the daughter of Carol Murphy, the owner of Murphy Orchards. Although the Orchards’ allure is its extensive grounds, orchards, Country Store, fruit-picking, and the popular Orchard Tea Room, Alexandra’s video presentation will relate the historical significance of the property. Carol has called it “a living textbook of Niagara County history” due to all that has happened on the property through the years. Its history includes the Underground Railroad, War of 1812 skirmishes, involvement in the early women’s rights movement, and 2000 year-old remnants of Native American settlements. We look forward to learning more about this historical treasure located so close to us all in Niagara County! Just a reminder that we continue to engage in several worthy community service projects, and we welcome your contributions at each meeting. These include collecting toiletries and used eyeglasses for donations to the YWCA and Lions’ Club, respectively. So clean out those drawers and seize this opportunity to help out others while you create a new space…for more stuff… Now for a few more notes… October is dues renewal month! ENCRTA dues are are $12.00, so please pay Patrick, our Treasurer, when you see him at the arrival table. We still need a PR person to handle publicity and take a few pictures, as well as a Historian to keep a scrapbook page or two for us. Sandy Kelley will help you. The annual NYSRTA Convention is October 27-29 at the Turning Stone Casino. Join NYSRTA, and you could represent ENCRTA as a delegate to this informative and entertaining venue. Our last ENCRTA meeting of 2015 is December 10. This is our time to celebrate the holiday season of Christmas surrounded by the festive décor that the Club provides and entertained by the talented Lockport High School jazz ensemble led by Paul Allison. Dig out those Christmas sweaters, ties, and Santa hats which you get to wear once a year, and join us on December 10 for a memorable event. October Baskets should be at the Club by 10:30 a.m. for the October 8 meeting. Please help us raise money for scholarships by creating a basket to add to the fun and bidding on these lovely creations. I hope to see MANY of you at the October 8 meeting as we bid farewell to a beautiful summer, but welcome the arrival of Fall in all of its glorious splendor. Regards…Gail
