St. Stephen’s Church of England Primary School, Tockholes Newsletter 19th December 2014 Dear parents God Bless to you all 2014 will be a year we will soon put to bed, but a year we will never forget. A year that saw Millie excel in year 6 and move to new heights at Darwen Vale. A year when the bowling club returned and became a regular Monday night treat in our hall. A year when gardening club became our most successful club. The birth of many new clubs and the need for the PAYG club. Our last year with Father Douglas but each time we pay a visit to St Stephen’s Church I know that from across the Pennines he is smiling as he fondly remembers us all. Who can forget any of this years themed days. There was our Chinese New Year Celebration, bring your mum to work day, the St Stephen’s bake off, the Anglo Saxon day, the sculpture afternoon with Jack and Janice Crewdson. Children in need and onesie day, where are we now day and the brilliant World War 1 commemoration event.. We as a school also raised money for the Macmillan Trust and supported numerous local events including Remembrance Day at Darwen Cemetery. It was the year of the volunteers. Thank you to everyone who supported our summer fair, the themed disco in October, the Four Seasons Garden Centre Christmas stall. The baking of a record 115 mince pies for the wonderful productions, the running of the breakfast club, the organising of the Christmas Tree, chairs from the village hall, assemblies on Dwarfism, Diabetes and much much more (too many to list). Children singing our school anthem, goals at the soccer dome, and on the netball court, the wonderful school council, our head pupils, the magic and sparkle of all our St Stephen’s pupils. Pantomime and shows our children are a credit to us where ever they go. Is that it I hear you say, I certainly hope not, for St Stephen’s children reach for the stars, and we also aim high in all we do. Remember our lives are only as big as the dreams we dare to dream big in all you do. Enjoy your Christmas with family, loved ones and friends. Reflect on all those special moments we too easily leave behind, don’t dwell on emptiness or sadness seek to find something special in all you do. Be yourself children, for there will never be anyone else remotely like you. You are unique, leave your finger print on all you achieve. Sparkle for your own stars beyond compare. Know that St. Stephen’s is your school and that you will always be welcome here. For those of us who have lost friends and loved ones this year let them live on in all you celebrate this Christmas From the staff, children, governors and scores of friends I wish you all love, happiness, peace and good will this Christmas and all days. See you in January (Children look after your parents, spoil them too).
