EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY Position: Events Director (The Dwight School Foundation) Reports to: Director of Development Position Description: The Events Director is responsible for the major fundraising event of The Dwight School Foundation as well as the planning and execution of all development events. The Events Director collaborates frequently with all members of the advancement staff as well as members of the Dwight School administration and faculty. Requirements and Responsibilities of Position: Spring Benefit (approx. 55% of time): Plan and implement major Spring Benefit fundraising event Recruit and manage Benefit Committee and other volunteers as needed Develop relationships and solicit parents and other constituents for in-kind donations and ticket purchases Produce and organize all Benefit materials, mailings, videos and other promotions Organize acknowledgement of Benefit gifts, including print and digital thank yous for donations, and content for publications Manage all database-related activity Provide weekly updates and reports on the Spring Benefit to the Director of Development Evaluate the overall success of the Benefit and provide relevant status reports to the Director of Development and key volunteers Other Development Events (approx. 40%): Develop and execute all donor cultivation events including donor recognition cocktail receptions, special dinners, Board meetings, Alumni Council meetings, Committee and Sub-Committee meetings, parent and alumni lectures, career events, senior class cultivation events, committee receptions, Spark Tank events, and volunteer receptions Develop, plan, execute, and evaluate all alumni and parents of alumni events including reunion, young alumni events, non-NYC events, and others Work with advancement team to develop and manage additional cultivation events including grandparent events Manage The Dwight School Foundation’s NYRR Half Marathon Team event Department Support (approx. 5%): Provide additional support as needed to all advancement staff for communications and other projects Cultivate relationships with parents and key constituencies Provide support as needed to Dwight School administration Attend key advancement events throughout the year and support the senior advancement staff Qualifications: Ideal candidates will have at least three (3) years of relevant experience in event planning and volunteer management, preferably in education. Fundraising, expense management and merchandise management experience a plus. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Candidates should have strong organizational and interpersonal skills as well as experience working on teams. Tact, proactivity, patience, professionalism, and a sense of humor are musts as well as a love for people due to the social nature of this role. Candidates must have the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines. Good computer skills required, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Raiser’s Edge database knowledge and basic website skills a plus. Availability to work approximately 15 evenings and some Saturday events required. Bachelor’s Degree required.
