The Department of Public Relations and Business Communication has a permanent position for
Lecturer/Senior Lecturer at the Soshanguve North Campus.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Academic qualifications: Lecturer


A designated Masters Degree in Public Relations, Strategic Communication or
Communication Science.
Applicants need to have intentions to improve qualification to Doctorate level.
Academic qualification: Senior Lecturer





A designated doctorate degree in Public Relations, Strategic Communication or
Communication Science.
At least five years’ teaching, research and industrial experience in the communication
field.
Advanced knowledge in the following areas of study: communication science including
organisational communication and behavior, communication management and public
relations.
Experience in research and the mentoring of postgraduate students would be a strong
recommendation.
Registration with one or more professional bodies in the communication industry is a
recommendation (eg SACOMM, IABC).
Experience: Lecturer

A minimum of five years appropriate experience in the teaching of Communicated
related subjects.
Experience: Senior Lecturer


At least five years’ teaching, research and industrial experience in the communication
field.
Mentoring or supervision experience (supervisor or co-supervisor) of registered
postgraduate students (Masters or Doctoral) is highly recommended.

Presenting research at an international conference, or publishing in the proceedings, is a
recommendation.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS/CORE FUNCTIONS: LECTURER








Lecturing in the field of Communication Science.
Provide sound academic teaching and learning practices with continuous TLT
innovations field of Corporate Communication.
Participate in curriculum development.
Compile and maintain quality study and practical guides, subject files and other TLT
materials.
Lead and participate in community engagement projects.
Engage in departmental, faculty and institutional initiatives.
Participate in research and innovation activities linked to Corporate Communication.
Liaise with industry regarding practical training, advisory committee meetings, industry
visits and other related activities.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS/CORE FUNCTIONS: SENIOR LECTURER





Responsible for lectures and other associated learning activities in public relations and
communication science subjects.
Taking responsibility for administrative tasks related to teaching and learning.
Involvement in research and the supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate
students.
Participating in research and community engagement projects.
Industry liaison and involvement in the development of a new curriculum.
