Call for research papers and workshop proposals
The China 2015 Family Business Conference is an academic forum that aims to share leading-edge
research and best practice of entrepreneurial development of family businesses that broaden the
conceptualization of theoretical frameworks and deepen academic understanding of family business
development across socio-economic and cultural landscapes. The forum will also explore policy initiatives
that can support the predominant owner-managed family business economy to realise its growth
potential and sustainable success.
The Conference will be hosted by Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT), specifically operationalized by the
School of Management and Economics and the Sino-Foreign Family Business Research Centre (SFFBRC) at
BIT, China, and the Business & Management School and CEDAR - the Centre for Entrepreneurial
Development, Alliance, and Research at the University of Central Lancashire (UClan), Cyprus. Leuven
Center for Collaborative Management, Belgium, Chinese Journal of Management, and China Family
Business Review also offer support to the conference.
SFFBRC involves a team of research active academics and practitioners of national, regional and
international reputation. CEDAR is a Euro-Mediterranean centre of entrepreneurship which is a catalyst
for entrepreneurial development by building synergies between different areas of expertise in education,
training, research, outreach, and policy.
The China 2015 Family Business Conference will lay the foundation for inter-continental collaboration
across academic programmes, research initiatives and industrial partnerships.
Theme of the Conference:
Under the umbrella theme of ‘The Entrepreneurial Development of Family Business: Theory-PracticePolicy Perspective’, the call for research articles and working papers is open and includes the following
sub-themes:
• Emerging business models in transitional economies
• Culture and its impact on performance
• HRM and leadership models
• Familiness, family involvement, family emotional capital
• Conflict management
• Social capital and trust
• Strategy and innovation
• Alternative funding Microfinance
• Financial strategies and performance
• Internationalization
• Family business sustainability and social responsibility
• Corporate governance in family business
 Regional economy, supporting institutions, and family business
• Policy support mechanism
• Family business entrepreneurship education and training
• General entrepreneurship e.g. gender , ethics , mentoring
POLICY MATTERS: A special panel debate involving policy makers and practitioners will exclusively address
emerging policy topics and initiatives across market economies.
Special Journal Issues: Competitive papers will be considered for publication in special journal issue of
International Journal of Management Practice (English). Quality papers in Chinese will also be
recommended to Chinese Journal of Management and China Family Business Review for publication.
