AUSTRALIAN HIGH COMMISSION, SINGAPORE The Australian High Commission in Singapore invites applications for the position of Team Leader (BB4) for the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (Immigration and Visa Section). Previous Immigration experience is desirable but not mandatory. The applicants should have previous experience in managing a team in a client service environment. Background The Australian High Commission is the official representative of the Australian Government in Singapore and provides a range of services to the general public, including consular, passport, visa and immigration, citizenship and cultural relations services. The High Commission also acts on behalf of various Australian Government authorities by representing Australia's interests to local, regional and multilateral government and business organisations in Singapore. Job Description The Australian High Commission is seeking to employ a suitable Team Leader in the Immigration and Visa Section. The successful applicant will be required to lead a small team responsible for providing immigration and citizenship services to applicants in Singapore including the processing of visa and citizenship applications and associated administrative functions. Under general direction, the Team Leader will lead a team involved in the processing of applications, monitor workflows and deliver a range of services to clients. They will also be responsible for more specialised and general office responsibilities including conducting integrity analysis, preparation of reporting, conducting internal and external training and mentoring junior staff. The position reports to Office Manager. Induction and ongoing training will be provided. Tasks and Functions Senior officers working to A-based staff or to the LES Office Manager, usually in the capacity of a team leader. This Group may supervise operational services of some volume or complexity. The role may involve the formal supervision of the work of less experienced officers, including guiding them to meet team goals/output. Contributions include proposing and implementing improvements to current working methods. Officers at this level are accountable for their personal conduct and for role modelling good personal conduct to their colleagues. Officers at this level are accountable for their personal completion of directed and undirected tasks, and for guiding less experienced officers’ task completion. Conditions of Appointment Employment at the High Commission is subject to the successful completion of an Australian national security clearance, and a medical clearance. Normal hours of work are Monday to Friday 8:30am to 5:00pm. The initial contract is for 12 months, with an option for a further 12 months subject to satisfactory performance. A bonus of 1.5 months’ salary is paid annually in December and additional performance-based salary increases or bonus are offered. The monthly salary starts at S$4,368 The successful candidate will undergo security vetting and authorisation processes that can be considerably lengthy to complete. Continuation of employment is dependent on the successful completion of security clearances and authorisation.
