MASTER MARINERS & CHIEF ENGINEER OFFICERS
The SCI occupies the Numero Uno position with its large and diversified fleet,
operating in nearly all segments of shipping viz. break-bulk services, container
services, liquid and dry bulk services, offshore services and passenger services. The
company also mans and manages vessels on behalf of various government bodies.
The SCI continues to grow through strategic alliances and new business
opportunities.
The Shipping Corporation of India Ltd. requires Master Mariners and Chief Engineer
Officers. Applications are invited from suitable candidates for the post of Deputy
General Manager.
No. of vacancies
The total number of vacancies is 17, of which 3 are for Master Mariners and 14 for
Chief Engineers. This number is subject to change as per Organisational

Upper Age limit
The upper age limit is 45 years as on 31/05/2012 relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST, 3
years for OBC and for persons with disability (PWD) the relaxation is over and above
the upper age limit i.e. 5 years for General Category, 10 years for SC/ST category
and 8 years for OBC category. For eligibility details, kindly refer following table:

Experience
Minimum sailing experience (article period) as Master (FG), Chief Engineer Officers
(FG) should be 36 months as on 31.05.2012.
Emoluments and Benefits
Selected candidates would be placed in the scale of Rs.32900-58000 with basic pay
at the starting of the scale, with a probation period of one year. In addition to Basic
Pay, Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance or Company Flat on applicable
rent recovery subject to availability, shall be applicable. Allowances/Perquisites/
subject to a maximum ceiling of 50% of basic pay is applicable. A part of 50% would
be set aside for medical insurance. The officer shall also be eligible to Performance
Related Pay, PF, Gratuity and Superannuation benefits which will be as per
Corporation rules.
Posting
The selected candidates can be posted and liable to be transferred anywhere in
India.
Selection Process

shortlisted candidates. Shortlisted candidates would be called for personal interviews
at Mumbai. For the shortlisted candidates the Company shall make arrangement for
travel by economy airfare however they shall make their own arrangements for stay.
