The Town of Terra Nova proposal for retention angling access on two areas in the mid section of the TNR watershed is officially approved by DFO and is in the 2014-15 Anglers Guide. DFO fish way contracts 2014: Tender closing date was May 23, 2014. FABEC submitted tenders to operate Middle Brook and Lower Terra Nova River fish ways. Motion: To approve payment of the WCB assessment invoice of $964.62 Moved by John Baird Seconded by Max Feltham Carried Registry of Companies: All documents are filed to bring FABEC in good standing with the NL Registry of Companies. Terra Nova River bank management and ocean front land infill: During the meeting concerns were expressed regarding river bank preservation for the banks of the Terra Nova River from Plant Road up river to Spencer Bridge. There are large sand pits used by various construction companies and these pits are adjacent to the natural banks of the Terra Nova River. There is little or no remedial work being done to protect the natural flow of the river. Additionally, concerns were also expressed on preserving the natural shore line for all ocean front property within the municipality of Glovertown. Sections of the shore line within the town are being subject to infill and every effort should be made to preserve the natural shore line from further change. Thus for the next regular meeting of FABEC a draft letter to the Town Council of Glovertown will be tabled for review and forwarded to the municipality requesting a meeting with the town to review the town’s policies on these two very important concerns. The next regular monthly meeting will be 7:00 PM, Wednesday June 25, 2014 at the Development Association Building, Glovertown.
