High School Graduation Requirements 1. A student shall enroll in the courses necessary to complete the curriculum requirements for (a) The Distinguished High School Program (b) The Foundation plus Endorsement High School Program, or (c) The Foundation High School Program- only permitted without an endorsement with signed agreement of the student’s parent/guardian, a school counselor, and a school administrator. This can only be selected as an option upon completion of student’s sophomore year. 2. A student can earn Performance Acknowledgements by meeting one or more of the following requirements: (a) Dual Credit – 12 hours of dual credit (b) Bilingualism/Biliteracy – Proficiency in 2 or more languages. At least 3 years in 2 languages with a grade of at least an 80. (c) AP/IB Exam – Score of 3 or above on a Colle Board AP exam. (d) PSAT/PLAN/ACT/SAT - Commended Scholar or Higher/College Readiness on 2 of 4 subject tests/Composite score of 28/Combine Reading and Math Score of at least 1250 (e) Certification or License – Business or industry credential to practice a profession. 3. The legislation adds the requirement that students are eligible to apply for admission to any general academic teaching institution, including institutions with an open enrollment policy, if they have completed any of the above mentioned diploma programs. 4. A student must fulfill TEA testing requirements for graduation. STAAR EOC requirements include mastery of the English I, English II, Algebra I, Biology, and US History tests. If the student does not meet the requirements, he/she will have multiple opportunities before graduation to retake the subjects that he/she did not pass. Students retaking the STAAR EOC test must be in a corresponding remediation class. 5. Lubbock-Cooper High School requires 26 credits for graduation under the Foundation, Foundation plus Endorsement, or Distinguished Plans. 6. Early Graduation Requirements (a) In order to graduate early, the student must file an “Early Graduation Form” with a parent signature by the end of his or her sophomore year. (b) There must be a scheduled conference with the parent, student and counselor before the end of the student’s sophomore year to discuss graduation requirements, correspondence, and plans for after graduation. (c) Students are allowed to take only two courses outside Lubbock-Cooper to count toward graduation. This includes Texas Tech correspondence or Lubbock ISD online courses. Approval by a counselor must be obtained before the student starts any class outside of LCISD. (d) The student must be prepared for a rigorous academic schedule his or her senior year.
