KS4 Geography trip
On Wednesday KS4 students went to Jubilee
View and Long beach to conclude their
investigation into how
Longshore drift effects the
width and shape of Long
Beach. The sea was a bit
kinder, but the sun was
hotter, which probably contributed to the very
quick time it took us to conduct the
measurements. We found
that during the past week,
on average the width of
long beach had grown by
about 2 meters. The side
near
the
conservation
beach hut gaining the most.
Bicentenary Exhibition
Primary pupils have been working hard on
presentation work for their bicentenary
exhibition at the museum. Parents are invited
to attend this exhibition on Monday 19th
October at 6pm. This work has involved
several visits for the pupils to explore the
island’s history. Thank you to their teachers
for making the most of this opportunity and
the extra effort it has taken to organise these
visits.

sign up for the time that they would like to be
in school to ‘book’ a computer.
LS children may book for 1 hour.
MS and Secondary children for a maximum of

All children will have a logon for the website,

access this from home.

Puzzle
Can you find four consecutive prime numbers
that add up to 220?
Solution Number 6
From the UK to the Falkland Islands according to Google Earth the
direct route is 8,064 miles.
At maximum speed of 1320 miles per hour in theory, this would take
just over 6 hours of flying time.
At 26 Kg of fuel an hour x 6 flying hours, it would burn up 156 kg of
fuel for the whole journey. This does not take into account tankers to
refuel at mid-air and we cannot fly direct route to the Falkland Island,
it does not allow for wind.
Fact of the Week
Each year about 500,000 detectable
earthquakes occur in the world. About
100,000 of those can be felt and about 100 of
them cause damage.
Wishing you all the best for the coming week,
Patricia Babin
