MBBS GRADUATION DAY TIMETABLE
WEDNESDAY 16 DECEMBER 2015
Please pick up your Graduation Gown or arrange for someone else to pick it up on Monday
December 14 between 2.00pm and 8.00pm from the UTAS Uni Bar, TUU Building at
1 Churchill Avenue, Sandy Bay Campus. Gowns have to be returned within 90 minutes of
completion of the 3.00pm ceremony to the Mezzanine Floor, Hotel Grand Chancellor.
8.45am – 10.30am: GRADUATION DAY BREAKFAST - Henry Jones Art Hotel, 25 Hunter St, Hobart.
This is a student-organised activity, sponsored by MDA National. Students need to have RSVP'd to MDA

10:45am – 11:00am SCHOOL OF MEDICINE REPRESENTATIVES TO ADDRESS GRADUANDS re
procedures for Declaration of Geneva – MS Lecture Theatre 1, Level 1, MSP, 17 Liverpool Street
11:00am – 11:50am: PHOTO CALL
Graduands attend in academic dress. Assemble in the external courtyard, outside Salutem Cafe. Orders and
payments for copies of the class photo are due to the Student Affairs Office, Level 1, 17 Liverpool Street by Friday
December 11, 2015. (where the photos are taken depends on the weather on the day – this may change)
11:50am: PROCEED TO THE THEATRE ROYAL FOR THE DECLARATION OF GENEVA CEREMONY
Please make your way to the Theatre Royal, 29 Campbell Street as quickly as possible.
12.00pm: Declaration of Geneva Ceremony attendees (family, friends, etc) will need to be seated in the Theatre
Royal by this time
12.05pm – 1.05pm: DECLARATION OF GENEVA & ANNOUNCEMENT OF PRIZES
The Theatre Royal, 29 Campbell Street, Hobart
Family and friends are welcome at this ceremony (tickets not required). IMPORTANT NOTE: Sandwiches/water
will be provided to graduands afterward however the Prize Recipients will have a separate sandwich lunch to
meet the Prize Donors (Venue TBC). Non prize-recipient Graduands should proceed as quickly as possible to
IMAS, Castray Espl to assemble for the parade.
1.05pm – 2.00pm: PRIZE RECIPIENTS LUNCH WITH DONORS (Venue to be confirmed and advised asap)
2.00pm: TOWN AND GOWN PARADE
Graduands assemble at the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies (IMAS) on Castray Esplanade. The march
commences at 2.30pm. The procession (with police escort and band) will move along Castray Espl into Morrison
St, turning right into the Elizabeth St intersection, onto Franklin Wharf, then left towards Constitution Dock, over
Victoria Dock bridge, left onto Hunter St and crossing Davey St to the Federation Concert Hall.
2.45pm: ARRIVE AT THE FEDERATION CONCERT HALL, 1 DAVEY STREET
Please be seated for the Graduation Ceremony.
3.00pm: GRADUATION CEREMONY – Federation Concert Hall
4.15pm (approx): REFRESHMENTS AT THE HOTEL GRAND CHANCELLOR
7.15pm: GRADUATION BALL –Wrest Point Hotel, Tasman Room. The 2015 Graduation Committee
presents the prestigious Graduation Ball. The evening will bring together graduates and their families to celebrate
the success of Australia’s future doctors with elegance and glamour. Faculty members and clinicians are also
formally invited to celebrate this memorable evening.
