Full Anniversary of Breeders
This is a special year for the Polish Association of Horse Breeders due to its 120 th anniversary of
organized horse breeding in Poland. A solemn gala as well as jubilee ceremonies organized as part of
the Polish Breeding Pavilion will be the culmination of celebrations during CAVALIADA which will take
place in December in Poznań.
At present the PZHK gathers 14 thousand breeders who belong to 15 regional associations, 170 local
breeders associations as well as 5 breed unions. We have been observing a stable population, which
is balanced at 300 thousand. Statistics from the last five years prove that the number of draft horses
is slightly decreasing (152 thousand), whereas the number of noble horses is increasing (95
thousand) and so is the number of ponies and normal horses (41 thousand).
For a few years, using the slogan “Polish Horses Now”, breeders and owners of horses which are
taken advantage of in sports have been awarded. Moreover, chosen competitors have been granted
financial support for participation in international competitions. At the horse jumping competition in
CAVALIADA Poznań 2015 in December the second auction of saddle horses will be taking place. The
auction of horses is additionally supported by a new website www.rynekpolskichkoni.pl, where all
members of the PZHK can post their small ads.
