LIBRARY DIRECTOR. Exciting opportunity in a vibrant, diverse, rural community, the Marshall-Lyon County Library (MLCL) is looking for an energetic, innovative, and service-oriented Library Director to lead the MLCL library forward in new directions. Located on the Redwood River in southwest Minnesota, Marshall is a regional hub and a known leader in industry, health care, education, and technology, and has been named “One of the Best Small Towns in America.” Marshall is home to Southwest Minnesota State University, a four-year public university offering a high quality education in the liberal arts and professions. MLCL serves a population of 22,000 with the main library in Marshall, two branch libraries, and an outreach service. The city-county library is well supported with information technology, has the KOHA automation system, an annual budget of $825.000, a staff of 9.50 FTEs, and is a member of the Plum Creek Regional Public Library System. There is also an active Friends of the Library group and the MLCL Foundation, which raise additional funds for the library. The library moved into a new building in 2011 and added a new Children’s Wing which opened in 2015. The Library Director reports to and is advised by a 9-member board of trustees. Minimum requirements: MLS, ALA accredited preferred, successful management experience in libraries, experience developing and managing a budget, valid driver’s license. Preferred requirements: strong personnel management skills, evidence of strong communication skills both verbal and written, management experience in a public library working collaboratively with local government groups, fundraising and grant writing experience, ability to work well with a diverse community, evidence of innovative programming, experience with an understanding of emerging technologies in the information field. Salary range: $64,126 - $85,508 DOQ, with excellent benefit package.
