CNM has come a long way since opening as
Albuquerque Technical Vocational Institute on July 1,
1965, with 150 students. Throughout this year, CNM will
be celebrating 50 years of serving central New Mexico
with exceptional community college opportunities and a
unique culture focused on helping students improve their
lives through education
The first of the Spring Term STEMinars, with a focus on
STEM-H, will occur this Wednesday, February 11, 6-7
p.m., SB 100. Michael Riley, a local engineer, will speak
on “Fuel Cells, Batteries, and Related Energy Systems,”
a topic that integrates chemistry, math, and
engineering. Encourage your students to attend,
considering some extra credit or other ways to make the
STEMinar count in your classes.
A new and free CNM mobile app has been launched and
is now available through the Apple App Store and
Google Play. The app provides quick-and-easy mobile
access to CNM’s Course Catalog and Schedule of
Classes, Campus Maps, Libraries, CNM Learn,
Computer Lab Maps, a Directory for faculty and staff,
and more. Download the app now at iTunes or Google
Play. More features for the CNM Mobile app are still to
come.
Course Evaluations for Spring Term are open from
Monday, March 30 – Sunday, April 12.

The transition of the current Curriculum
Management System (CurricUNET) to the new
Curriculum Management System (Curriculog) is on
schedule. Curriculog will be able to integrate with
our catalog system, Acalog, smoothly as they are
based in the same company. The Curriculog
Implementation Team has completed training and
we are now in the consultation phase. Training for
users according to role will take place in April.
Users will receive training dates in the near future.
The CNM Governing Board approved revised or
new policies in three areas at its Jan. 13 meeting.
They relate to Background Checks, Nepotism and
Consensual Relationships. Click here to learn more
about the policy changes.

On March 13, CNM’s Microsoft Outlook email system
will be migrated to the Microsoft Exchange Online
service, which is part of a new agreement with Microsoft
that will initiate a variety of new benefits for CNM
technology users. Read more.
The myCNM platform is in the process of being upgraded
to a newer version that will provide better integration
with Banner, CNM Learn (formerly called Blackboard)
and student email, as well as better browser compatibility
and other upgraded features. There will also be a
redesign of the look and feel of the new myCNM, which
will lead to some reorganization of information and the
location of links. More information about the changes
within myCNM will be available as the launch date gets
closer. Launch is scheduled for Feb. 22. Faculty
members who use the “Course Studio” function that
is accessed from the myCourses section of myCNM
will need to move any content in Course Studio that
they will need for the Spring Term to CNM Learn
(Blackboard).
Join CNM in welcoming high school students to CNM’s
Main Campus for the “Make Your Mark” Career
Technical Education Open House on Feb. 27. Volunteers
will fill a number of positions ranging from tour guides
to runners, and are essential to providing hundreds of
Albuquerque-area high school students an inside look at
CTE fields at CNM. During the day, students will tour
the college, participate in hands-on activities and learn
about the programs and resources CNM has to offer.
Faculty, staff and student employees are welcome to
volunteer. Please sign up to volunteer here.
All Phase II Master Plan Proposal are due Tuesday,
February 17 by 5 pm.
February 16, 2015 will be the last non-instructional
President’s Day. Classes will be held on President’s Day
starting Spring 2016.
For the second year in a row, CNM is going for green
greatness by entering the RecycleMania Tournament
alongside more than 390 colleges and universities from
across the U.S. and Canada. The competition starts this
week. Help score points for the college, and more
importantly the planet, by dropping all of your recyclable
waste into nearby recycle bins. Read more.
CNM’s Marketing & Communications Office is hosting
an open house on Friday, Feb. 13, from 10 a.m.to noon.
The open house will feature a presentation from the
Media Production Services team, Web Strategy team and
in-house Marketing team. Refreshments will be served.
Stop by to see what MCO can do to help you and your
department. MCO is here to help.
Intersession dates: Monday, May 11 – Sunday, May 24.
CNM’s 2015 Spring Graduation Ceremony will be held
Saturday, May 9 at Tingley Coliseum. All faculty and
staff are encouraged to show their support for graduates
by participating and wearing regalia.

As part of the College-wide Technology Project to
Improve Security and Emergency Preparedness CNM is
in the process of replacing older card readers installed on
many doors throughout multiple campus locations. The
replacement of existing card readers is expected to be
completed before August 2015. The new card readers
will be activated for use by the beginning of the Fall
2015 term. A specific date will be announced and
instructions will be provided well in advance of
activation. Once the new card readers are activated new
ID Cards (or badges) will be required to access the
rooms. The ID cards in use today will no longer function
after the new card readers are activated. In order to
facilitate a smooth transition the old employee ID cards
will be replaced with new ID badges. The new ID
badges will be printed this spring and will be delivered to
the departments for distribution to employees before the
end of the Spring 2015 term. The new ID Badges will
also replace the old ID cards as valid CNM IDs and will
be required for all employees.
