Smoke-free campus: In an effort to respect all students,
CNM has created smoke-free zones as well as designated
smoking areas at all CNM locations. The use of tobacco
products, including the use of chewing tobacco and ecigarettes is limited to the designated smoking areas and
banned from all other areas. View CNM’s policy on
smoking at http://www.cnm.edu/about/smoke-freecampus. View a map of the designated smoking areas at

ITS will soon be preparing the CNM computer
classrooms and labs for the upcoming Summer Term.
ITS staff encourages all CNM faculty and lab staff to
review the schedule and provide feedback. Read more.
Due to unanticipated challenges, the migration of CNM
employee email to Microsoft Exchange Online (Office
365) has been postponed. As a result, CNM employee
email will not be migrated during the weekend of March
12-16 as previously communicated.
Nominate a student employee for the Outstanding
Student Employee Recognition Award. This award
recognizes student employees for exceptional
contributions to the CNM Community. Although there
are numerous outstanding student employees, this award
honors the “Best of the Best.” Any CNM student
employee in good standing may be nominated.
Nomination criteria for the award can be for exceptional
support, outstanding performance, innovative idea or
problem solving. Click here to nominate a student
employee for this award.
The restrooms in the H and K buildings on Montoya
Campus are scheduled for renovation. Please pardon the
disruptions during the project. Note, the parking lot south
of the K Building will be closed March 30 through May
25. In addition, the H and K Building restrooms will be
closed (one building at a time) during that same time
period. Please plan to utilize facilities in nearby
buildings.
Beginning with the 2015 Fall Term, students can earn
their associate degree in Liberal Arts in 16 months
through an all online, fast-track program. The intensive,
fast-paced, and full-time program is for students who
want a structured and supportive online learning
environment. Applications for the program are being
accepted now. For more info, visit cnm.edu/liberalarts.
The CNM Libraries are inviting submissions for the

UNM professors Tanya Ivanova-Sullivan and Natasha
Kolchevska will discuss Russian culture and politics
during a guest speaker lecture series titled “From Russia
With(out) Love.” The first lecture – “Size Matters, Or
Does It” – will delve into the dynamics of today’s Russia
compared with the Soviet Union and the recent writings
on Vladimir Putin’s strategies and geopolitical actions. It
will take place on March 25 from 3-4 p.m. in Smith
Brasher Hall, Room 132. The second lecture –
“Contextualizing Culture: Russian Self-Image and

perceive themselves and others, particularly Americans.
It will take place April 8 from 3-4 p.m. in Smith Brasher
Hall, Room 132.
If you’re passionate about Hispanic/Latino student
success and would like to be a part of a team that creates
an awareness of educational pathways for Hispanic
students, join the CNM Hispanic Heritage Task Team,

identifying new and existing resources that foster
graduation, retention and educational success for CNM’s
Hispanic/Latino student population. The Hispanic
Heritage Task Team, which also organizes various
events, welcomes new members. Contact Elisa Castillo at
224-4000 Ext. 51862 or ecastillo2@cnm.edu for more
info or to join.

I am pleased to announce that CNM has officially
rescheduled the CTE Open House for Friday, April 10,
from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. I know we have a few events
scheduled on our Main Campus on the same day (Skills
USA and Recruit 50, to name a few), but this was the
best date for APS and CNM given that PARCC testing
and spring break occur during the next several weeks –
and our faculty will be on break beginning in early May .
The Purchase Order has been issued for the clocks and
we expect for them to arrive this Wednesday March 4th.
We plan to install all the Controllers/Transmitters by the
end of this month and we will install all the clocks during
the term break in May.
Will you be incorporating Earth Day topics or activities
into your classroom plans the week of April 22? Any
CNM faculty members planning special speaking
engagements or activities in response to Earth Day are
asked to contact Sionna Grassbaugh at
sgrassbaugh@cnm.edu to get your event added to a
college-wide list of activities.
