Notes
Just wanted to let you know that due to some delays
in the buildout and counters the Suncatfe (Café
between MS and SSC) will not be open until spring
semester. On the bright side it will help the food
trucks to not have the competition at this point.
Suncatfe will be fully operational spring term.

teaching about Dia de los Muertos in the K-12
classroom. This workshop, to be held Oct. 17 from
10 a.m.-1 p.m. in Max Salazar Hall, Room 402, will
focus entirely on curriculum and strategies. Through
discussion and hands-on exercise, the workshop will
highlight how to use ESL strategies modeled after
the Guided Language Acquisition Development
(GLAD) teaching method. Ways to actively engage
students in the topic will be emphasized. Participants
will receive certificates of professional development
and copies of relevant curriculum materials.
Refreshments will be served. The event is free and

required. To register, click here. Workshop sponsors
are CNM and the UNM Latin American & Iberian
Institute.
If your life or the life of a family member has been
impacted by a legal issue, you may need the expert
counsel of an attorney. Your EAP can help with a
free consultation with a qualified attorney either on
the phone or in person. Online support is also
available through legal forms, a library of legal
articles or even a simple will. Visit Deer Oaks online
for more information.
CNM faculty members are being encouraged to
consider using free or very low-cost online Open
Educational Resources (OER) for their courses and
programs – like those provided by OpenStax
College – in order to provide students with a more
affordable option to more expensive publisher’s
textbooks. Read more.
