Iota Phi Theta San Antonio Scholarship
History
Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc. is a private, non-profit organization. The unified purpose of our
organization is the perpetuation of Scholarship, Leadership, Citizenship, Fidelity, and Brotherhood
incorporated though public service programs that focus on educational, physical, mental and spiritual
development and economic, political and international awareness and involvement. Founded in 1963,
the organization has grown to over 250 chapters in 40 states. Our chapter was founded in May 2011.
Purpose
The purpose of the Iota Phi Theta San Antonio Scholarship is to support the academic and community
accomplishments of students, who attend high school in Bexar, Comal, or Guadalupe County. The
student must be a well rounded individual by balancing school and extra-curricular activities.
Criteria
One non-renewable $500 scholarship will be awarded on May 19, 2014. Deadline for submission is
postmarked by April 30, 2014 for the application and all required documents. Family members of
Gamma Alpha Omega are not eligible.






Must be a High School Senior in Bexar, Comal, or Guadalupe County
Must provide an acceptance letter from an accredited college or university
Original sealed high school transcript
Have maintained of a minimum of 3.0 GPA throughout their high school career
Letter of recommendation from teacher, pastor, employer, or counselor
Provide an essay (see instructions below)
Provide an essay on why you feel you should be selected as one of the recipients; explain your future
career goals and the life experiences that have influenced you to choose your career field.
Essay should be no longer than two pages in length, Times New Roman font, 12 size, double spaced
with one inch margins (minimum of 500 words)

Fraternity, Inc. to use photographs taken at the Awards presentation (if chosen) for publication to
promote the scholarship and future fund-raising activities.
