Marine Creatures Project Today, you will pick and research a marine animal. During this project, you will learn about the environment, functions, and characteristics of the animal. After learning all of this information about your animal, you will apply all of this knowledge throughout the semester as we learn about different aspects of the ocean. You may use a powerpoint, prezi, or just type/write the information. You may work in pairs if you wish, but no more than 2 people. You may also use our textbook for information. For extra credit, you may present this to the class. Enjoy! Section Information Description Point Value You will be asked to provide the following information about your 50 organism: Scientific Name: Genus species Common Name Habitat: Where does this organism live? (If multiple places, list them- even if just general are (ex: off the East Coast of the USA)) What type of environment does it need? (does it need specific factors or other organisms to survive) Average size Life cycle: what are the stages of its life? Brief evolutionary history Evolutionary traits: What traits has it specifically developed through evolution? Reproduction: How does it reproduce? How many typical offspring at a time? Any special conditions or actions before/during/or after birth? Diet: What does it eat? (this will be similar to habitat) Relationship with humans: do we hunt it? Do we eat it? Are they pets? Do we use it for other uses? Anatomy: tell the basics Any symbiotic relationships? Interesting facts: you should have at least 2 and they can be about anything.
