The next meeting will be held on Thursday, December 13, 2012, 9-11am in MCB-541, Gold Room. PLEASE NOTE THE CHANGE IN LOCATION. For the dates of January 10th and April
11th the meetings will be held in MCB-651.
Topic and Summary
Academic Leadership Planning, Carol Mack, Vice Provost for Academic Personnel and Leadership
Development

Carol had the group participate in a leadership exercise focused on identifying programmatic and leadership

Omnibus Course Numbers Follow Up, Kris Henning, Associate Dean, CUPA

Kris took the Final Course Instructional definitions to the group for feedback and approval. Everyone at the
table agreed to review the definitions with their Deans and will report back to Kris if there were any
problems.

Announcements, Carol Mack, Vice Provost for Academic Personnel and Leadership Development

Carol announced and encouraged everyone to attend the 2013 Student Success & Retention Conference
taking place on February 7-8th. This conference is hosted by the Oregon Council of Student Service
Administrators.

Carol provided a letter from the Office of the General Counsel regarding Legal Review of Employment
Agreements. It states that there are specific employment agreements required to be reviewed by the
General Counsel. Please click on the link for the letter and a list of agreements that are required to be
reviewed.

Carol shared the new Chair Appointment tracking document. This document was created for internal
tracking purposes to make the process clear to each office (e.g. department, dean’s, OAA, PO, and HR). (This
also replaces the need for departments to create appointment letters for approval.)

Cindy and Dan presented proposed changes to the policy/practice for Post Baccalaureate (postbac) Status.
In summer, 2012, a stakeholder group began meeting to address shared concerns about the Post
Baccalaureate status and the student experience. They focused on clarifying the purpose of postbac status
and improving the student experience related to advising and educational pathways.
CARE Team Update – Gina Senarighi, Assistant Dean of Student Life, Marcy Hunt Morse, Director of
Counseling and Psychological Services and Phil Zerzan, Director of Public Safety

Members from the CARE Team provided an overview of their services and methods for supporting faculty,
staff and students. The CARE Team promotes student success and campus community well-being through:
1. Coordination of resources, information, services and campus perspectives;
2. Assessment of risk, threat, well-being, and available resources;
3. Response to concerning behavior, student distress, campus community crisis, wellness concerns; and
4. Education of the University community to create and maintain an ethos of care.
