State Library of Queensland – Stephanie Ryan:
Currently working on indexing WWI soldier phots that appeared in The Week;
volunteers indexing articles on German Shipping Records from Burwood FHS journal,
Ancestree; building a collection of Queensland houses; giving talks.
Sunshine Coast Libraries – Angela Marczi
Acting in Heritage Library Coordinator role for one month; recently launched 2015
calendar – images were sourced from all heritage groups in region not just library’s
image collection; hosted and attended Connecting Collections workshops; attended
Queensland Heritage on the Map symposium.
Gympie Libraries – Lisa Ryan
Archive has recently re-opened after a mold incident; currently trying to get votes up
for Gympie Times to be digitized as part of Inside History Magazine promotion; recent
updates made to Gympie Trails.
Toowoomba Libraries – Jayne Royal
Building Update: Local Studies collection not moving until new building is built, will
remain where it is with a mini-CBD council service point operating from the front of the
Local Studies Library; a transitional library is operating 1km from CBD; the old Victoria
Street building has been demolished; sod turning for new library has just taken place,
due to open by end of 2015, three storey building.
Heritage Activities: developing a Local Studies browsing collection for new library;
separating the AV collection to be housed in a climate-controlled room; addressing
mould problems.
Moreton Bay Libraries – Pat Gee
Playback Project completed – outcome was a film about using heritage material from
Pine Rivers, available on SLQ website
WWI – obtained two federal Anzac grants; cemetery tours of Lawnton, Caboolture and
Redcliffe cemeteries focused on veterans being organized for Heritage Month
(April/May 2015)
Moreton Bay Libraries – Kelly Ashford
WWI – volunteers knitting poppies to identify graves of veterans and developing
brochures
Heritage Month: Working on plans (see Pat Gee’s comments above)
State Library of Queensland – Olivia Robinson
STACK Framework: video on website; updating digitization toolkit.
Connecting Collections project – held in conjunction with Sunshine Coast Libraries, 5 day
workshop for heritage groups in region, leading to a collaborative project – History Pin
tour and blog posts
Playback Project – was very complex; culminated with the Heritage Tourism Symposium
From Selection to Discovery – new project in first half of 2015, intensive digitization
workshop aimed at public libraries with two or more branches focusing on planning,
selecting, and how tos of image collections.
Heritage Leaders Workshop- in April 2014 hugely successful
QANZAC100 Fellowship - 4 per year for four years of Anzac commemorations, received a
good response to first round.
JOL Fellowship – will open for applications in late Janaury 2015
Queensland Memory eNews – looking for stories from across State for inclusion; can be
on any aspect of your collection.
WWI On This Day – tweet for every day for duration of WWI commemorations; looking
for contributions from other libraries.
Sue Prenzler – Logan City Libraries
Developing postcards for promoting Mayes Cottage – Sue asked the group for feedback
on the design.
Heritage mapping of Logan.
Jane Harding – Noosa Library Service
Griffiths Negative Collection – as discussed in first half of meeting
WWI Grant – successful in application for $14,100 from Queensland Anzac Centenary
grant program for project Noosa’s War Front which will include digitization of minute
books, community collecting drives, creation of register and digitization, exhibition
launching Nov 11.
Donations – been receiving lots
Precinct 21st Birthday – including members of Wallace family who formerly owned the
Wallace Park Estate (where Noosaville Library is today).
Connected Collections – Judy Finter, Digital Literacy Librarian, attended this workshop
co-hosted by State Library of Queensland and Sunshine Coast Libraries.
Pomona Fire Station – working with community and Queensland Emergency Services to
develop an interpretive panel for new fire station
WALKS brochures – redesign and reprint with Noosa Council branding
Place naming – ongoing research to honour request from Fenwick family who owned
Cooroy Mill.
Housekeeping
Meetings for 2015 will be in approximately March, June, September and December.
State Library of Queensland traditionally hosts first meeting of year. Sunshine Coast
Libraries, Logan City Libraries, and Moreton Bay Libraries offered to host other
meetings in 2015.
