One of the important purposes of the conference is to elicit specific information on the status of medical imaging and imaging management in India. To this end we are inviting papers and presentations relative to the experience in India and implications for the DICOM Standard such as:
What are the imaging informatics challenges that healthcare providers in India will be facing as they broadly deploy imaging equipment?
What are the typical workflows and dataflow patterns for image acquisition and interpretation?
Are there special workflow and image management issues, e.g., with respect to patient identity and order information?
What is the deployment status of RIS’s and PACS’s, and their effectiveness in supporting scheduled workflow?
What is the workflow for imaging in rural clinics in India? Is the IHE scheduled workflow model appropriate, or is a different approach needed?
How are (should) patient names in Indic characters be supported by RIS, PACS, and modalities?
What are the informatics training needs for radiologic techs and PACS administrators in India?
What display and analysis applications are of most use in India?
What radiological procedures are of highest priority in India and how does that impact imaging workflow?
What non-radiology medical imaging is used or needed in India, and what is its workflow?
Are there any new capabilities that need to be addressed by DICOM?
Does equipment deployment in this environment require more automation of the DICOM configuration during installation, and if so, in what way?
Presentations on experiences from other countries in the above areas are also invited.
