Waterford Valley High School Physical Education 2100/2101 donnagibbons@nlesd.ca Physical Education 2100 and 2101 are sport/activity-based courses designed to provide a variety of movement experiences and contribute to student’s overall competency in movement. A key element of student achievement in physical education is students attending class and participating in all activities to the best of their abilities. Physical Education 2100 and 2101 will: - Challenge the high school learner to learn and engage in various games, activities sports and exercises that contribute to overall wellness and enjoyment of life. - Understanding and appreciation of health related components of fitness. - Enable students to work towards developing a personal wellness plan. - Allow students to develop and achieve individual fitness goals. - Engage students in activities that require and foster the development of cooperative skills and strategies. - Students will participate in an out of school field trip. - Students will participate in outdoor activities. Expectations 1. Students are expected to participate in all classes. Students must have a note from a parent or guardian containing the signature and contact number the day that they do not participate. An email is also acceptable. If students do not participate in a particular class for whatever reason, and they do not have a note/email, they must provide one for the next class. If a note/email from a parent/guardian is not provided, marks will be deducted! 2. Students not participating for an extended period of time should have a doctor’s note. 3. Students must wear gym clothing for all activities. Examples of appropriate gym clothes are sneakers, shorts, T-shirt, sweat shirt, Pajama pants, track pants. Jeans are not acceptable.
