When you go to a site you may need to have on hand the information to:
TO START YOUR SEARCH CLICK ON SITE---Type in
the last name then first name of the person you are seeking
information on, if no results are presented, then type in then
maiden names of previously married women or of the person
you are looking for add a comma (,) between the names. If the
information you are seeking is in reference to a deceased (dead
relative or friend) and you want to know if the courts have a
will (it is called a probate record) or if there was property left
without a will, you will look in the county probate court records
in click on every file, sometimes the listings will have the
attorneys or administrators names listed as the file name but
when you get into the file you will see more information on the
person you are looking for. * Type in Last, first and middle or
other last maiden names used by this person to search you.
The sites may ask for first names, cities where the person resided, social
security numbers, name of jobs.
Types of property held by most state comptroller’s offices are bank accounts,
**When you write an administrator in reference to a
potential claim ask which court the files are held in and the
judge name for the asset. Send a copy of all of your requests to
the administrator and also to the clerk of court for the judge so
they are aware of your request.
WHEN a court sells a deceased person’s property the money collected from
the sale should be placed with the court in escrow/trust account managed by the
courts. Many state legislators have allowed the county probate courts to set a
time limit for the beneficiary or next of kin relatives to claim their deceased
relative’s assets and the money collected from the sale of the deceased persons
property including land, homes, jewelry and other assets, which after that time
limit for making the claim has expired they keep the money or assets.
The Courts: In most cases the courts and administrators are
suppose to attempt to find the bequeathed, next of kin or
beneficiary. Some courts have interpreted this to mean that they
advertise once in their local newspaper if you don’t respond
they have tried to find you. What happens if you don’t live in
or subscribe to their local paper? At that point it is up to you to
search for the funds the courts hold, there are usually time
limits for which you may make a claim if a claim is not made
the administrators sometimes gets to keep all of the assets.
stock certificates, checks, insurance policies and utility deposits.

WHAT is the process for unclaimed assets? The courts assign an
administrator when a relative is not present to make a claim to the deceased
persons property, sometimes the persons petitioning a court to act as
administrator is the deceased persons last caregiver, a friend, a nurse, nursing
homes or attorney they are can request payments to look for you, this payment
is made from your relative’s estate.
All courts should have administrators assigned to handle
inactive unclaimed probate files. These are special
administrators who man the accounts of the assets of the
deceased that have not been claimed, confiscated or absorbed;
this person holds the information as to who was paid what and
when and what the cash balance is in the estate accounts that
should be set up under the estate name of the deceased person.
If your search yields information on a relative of yours that had sitting assets
in the courts reserve unclaimed account you can request the records of the
proceedings to see when the courts actually tried to find the relatives.
If you believe the courts or administrators did not try to find you or a
relative you can request a copy of all archived of the records , request the
information in writing to them by certified mail **Try to have on hand copies
of legal information such as birth, marriage certificates showing your linkage to
the deceased or a record of the deceased**their birth, eulogy records from
funeral, their parents birth records, old newspaper clippings, copy of inside of
old family bibles to prove your kinship to make your claim or you can get a
genealogist to track what efforts were made or an attorney to find this
information it is best sometimes to get one that is not in the county of your
request.
