KNIGHTS OF COLOMBUS SCHOLARSHIP

ELIGIBILITY
Any high school senior of the Catholic faith who is currently a member in good standing
in the parishes of St. Michael’s, Mahnomen; St. Ann’s, Waubun; St. Anne’s. Naytahwaush;
St. Joseph’s, Beaulieu; Most Holy Redeeme, Ogema; St. Theodore’s, Ponsford; or St.
Benedict’s, White Earth; St. Fracis Cabrini, Elbow Lake.
PURPOSE
To provide two two-hundred-fifty ($250) scholarships to be used for worthy Catholic
students to further their education. This is a part of the continuing effort of Mahnomen
Knights of Columbus Council 2573 to support catholic youth and to show appreciation
for religious endeavor and scholastic achievement.
III.
APPLICATION
a. Application forms will be available from the high school counselors in the
Mahnomen and Waubun Schools.
b. Completed application forms must be turned in to the Guidance Office
by April 15, 2010
c. Each application must include the following:
1. A completed application form
2. Two letters of recommendation: one from each of the following:
a. A Knights of Columbus member or any member of the
applicants parish.
b. A teacher or principal of the applicant’s school.
3. A letter about yourself and why you would like to be chosen.
IV.
AWARDING THE SCHOLARSHIP
a. Selection
A committee will review all applications
b. Notification and awarding of the scholarships:
The Grand Knight will notify the winners of the scholarships. Certificates of award
will be given during the month of June at a time and place designated by the Grand
Knight. Checks will be awarded during the month of August.
V.
NON-AWARDING OF THE SCHOLARSHIP
In the event that a recipient decided not to further their education that fall, the
scholarship(s) may be awarded to the first runner-up.
