Nurse Manager

Permanent position
HOURS
37.5 per week Monday – Friday ( flexibility required) will consider
part-time/job share weekends and bank/public holidays are worked
on a rotation basis and paid at time and a half
SALARY
£28,000 - £35,000 depending on experience
OVERVIEW OF ROLE:
The ‘Operating Department Practitioner’’ will be expected to work in a small multidisciplinary team providing care and support to patients undergoing fertility treatment.
They will also need to provide housekeeping duties and will need to be proficient in the
theatre related procedures including patient recovery.
KEY OBJECTIVES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. To oversee the planning and delivery of all patients perioperative care and coordinate the processes in the theatre suite and recovery
2. To oversee the ordering of all drugs and equipment required for anaesthesia
3. To maintain anaesthetic and resuscitation equipment including defibrillators, the
anaesthetic machine etc.
4. To set up theatre and assist the anaesthetist as required.
5. To help prepare drugs, fluids, devices to maintain the patient's airway, and
equipment needed for patients to undergo anaesthesia/sedation.
6. To communicate with patients when they arrive in theatre and ensure they are
checked in, prepared and ready for treatment in a timely manner.
7. To assist the anaesthetist if and when required.
8. To monitor the patient’s physiological signs, providing airway management if
needed.
9. To recover patients following procedures conducted in theatre.
10. To administer prescribed analgesia as required.
11. To provide refreshments to patients following theatre procedures.
12. To provide patients with appropriate information regarding their procedure and
ongoing treatment
13. To discharge patients when appropriate following treatment
14. To assist with the preparation of the recovery rooms after each patient.
15. To ensure that patient records and theatre logbooks are kept updated.
16. To ensure the theatre Control Drugs record is completed promptly and in an
approved manner.
17. To maintain a clean and safe environment which includes a pre- and post- theatre
clean and weekly deep clean.
18. When necessary assist in theatre for various procedures including:




Egg collection
Surgical sperm recovery
Embryo transfer
Other procedures (e.g. insemination, endometrial biopsy, HyFoSy etc)
GENERAL DUTIES:
All members of staff are expected to comply with the following:
1. To be completely confidential in all matters pertaining to Nurture Fertility.
2. To adhere to Nurture Fertility’s Health and Safety policies.
3. To be aware of the HFEA Code of Practice and Guidelines and to practice in
accordance with these and other statutory and regulatory requirements.
4. To assist in the preparation and presentation of information for internal and external
regulatory inspections.
5. To be fully aware of Nurture Fertility’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and to
understand the quality management system and to contribute to their development
and update as required.
6. To contribute to quality assurance, auditing, data input, and record keeping
including maintaining accurate clinical databases.
7. To comply with set Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).
8. To communicate effectively and appropriately with diverse groups of people
including all staff, patients and professionals from other disciplines.
9. To communicate professionally with patients and other members of the public in a
polite and helpful manner ensuring as positive an experience as possible.
10. To actively assist in marketing efforts and help project the image of Nurture in a
positive way at all times.
11. To maintain a clean, safe environment, ensuring adherence to the unit’s standards
of cleanliness, hygiene and infection control policy and procedures at all time.
12. To develop, apply and update knowledge, specialist skills and expertise in order to
contribute to the provision and optimisation of clinical services at Nurture Fertility.
13. To accept further training as required for job fulfilment and continued professional
development (CPD).
14. To undergo and actively participate in personal performance appraisals and
competency reviews in accordance with the clinic’s policy.
15. To undertake and be compliant with all mandatory training.
16. To contribute to on-going research projects and to external or collaborative
research.
17. To undertake any other duties that may be delegated by the line Manager and/or the
senior management team.

and forms part of the contract of employment

Because of the nature of the work for which you are applying, this post is exempted from
