Community Financial Resource Center -POSITION DESCRIPTION POSITION: Director of Development REPORT: President & Chief Executive Officer SUMMARY: CFRC is currently seeking a strategic and passionate leader to join their team as the Director of Development. The Director of Development will play an executive role within the organization, reporting directly to the CEO, and working closely with support from the senior staff. Specifically, the Director of Development will create a tactical, multi-faceted development plan to maximize CFRC’s growth potential, and work in concert with the CEO’s administrative team to execute against those goals. Work closely with the CEO and Board of Directors to create a strategic fundraising plan and budget to maximize CFRC’s funding opportunities. 2. Lead efforts to identify strategic communications opportunities and new funding sources by working collaboratively with program staff, senior staff and outside stakeholders. 3. Serve as special advisor to the CEO on identifying, securing and retaining funders/donors; cultivate relationships with key funders, and leverage the CEO and other organizational leaders to develop those relationships. 4. Identify and recruit new Board members and manage Board Fundraising Committee and Corporate Leadership Advisory Council. 5. Supervise planning and fundraising for CFRC’ s Annual Power Luncheon including management of honorees, luncheon committee, and event donors; coordination of logistics and production; and cultivation of future honorees. 6. Create and implement annual cultivation and giving programs, including events, corporate and foundation giving, and individual donors. 7. Develop key messaging and language for institutional communications and outreach. 8. Serve as a critical part of the organization’s leadership team and work collaboratively with a team of three senior program staff. 9. Contribute to the creation and implementation of a robust communications strategy to help support all development and fundraising efforts. 10. Execute various types of multi-year fundraising campaigns. Qualifications: Significant experience and demonstrated success in fundraising from high net-worth individuals, foundation, financial institutions, and corporations. Experience directing and strategizing around event planning, including gala dinners and cultivation events required. Demonstrated ability to grow fundraising programs from the ground up. Ability to build strong relationships with high-level funders, and superb writing and communication skills required; a strong background in identifying and cultivating board members preferred. Must be driven, creative and flexible, and willing to work hands-on in a fast-paced, dynamic, and evolving organization. Genuine interest in micro lending and community economic development issues, policies and reform, and a strong desire to dive into the details and bigger picture of the movement. Experience with the microfinance industry, and knowledge or experience in the Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) sector a plus. Experience working with online, social or other digital media. Other requirements: Outstanding speaking, writing, interpersonal, and presentation skills. Entrepreneurial style, with an enthusiasm for working in a fast-paced, dynamic organization. Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, juggle multiple tasks simultaneously, and flexible to meet team needs. Detail-oriented, with commitment to high standards of performance. Bachelor’s degree required. 7+ years of related work experience. The incumbent must be a self-starter, highly organized, entrepreneurial and resourceful individual with strong marketing skills, analytical, project and time management skills and communication skills, a high degree of professionalism, and a flexible, collaborative spirit.
