1. Summary Statement: State the major function(s) of the position and its role in the university. Attach an organizational chart with positions, ranges, and names for the division which reflects the position in it as well as those supervised in the department. (This section is

The Assistant Director, Child and Family Research Center (CFRC) Daily Operations, assists in the planning, implementation and evaluation of early care and education services for the (CFRC).
Specifically, the Assistant Director assumes primary responsibility for the scheduling, staffing, and daily operations for early childhood classrooms in four campus locations. The incumbent reports to the Director, CFRC.
2. List the major responsibilities, including percentage of time devoted to each. Provide enough detail to enable a person outside the department to understand the job (percentage first with heading and then bulleted information).
40% - Site Supervision of Classified Staff
Supervise, schedule, hire, train, and complete annual performance appraisals for classified teaching staff at Sarah Fleischman Building (SFB) & 11 th St. sites
Coordinate maintenance of facility, materials and equipment
40% - Staffing, Scheduling and Daily Operation Management of all CFRC Sites
Plan and develop daily schedules for classified and student staff members in each classroom at all sites
Assess daily staff attendance and make necessary shifts in staffing to ensure child:staff ratios are maintained in compliance with Nevada child care licensing regulations, Head Start
Performance Standards and
(NAEYC) accreditation standards
Work closely with the Center Director and assistant director to resolve problems
15% - Program Management
Assist in the provision of parent enrollment and communication Range 3 needs to do more than assist

Level of Freedom:
The Assistant Director represents the CFRC on issues related to provision of Early Head Start services in the local community, and the state. The position is very visible to the public through interaction with students, faculty, staff, and community groups. The individual works closely with the

Director on decisions associated with the position, but must work independently, with initiative, and with some latitude in decision-making.
Impact:
The work of the Assistant Director impacts the quality of instruction and child care within the unit. The
Assistant Director influences the quality of services offered by the Center to faculty, staff, students, and community members for their young children a nd the resultant impact on the children’s education and well-being. This position is visible to the public and therefore has a direct impact on the perception of the Center and its reputation.

Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution
b. Minimum type and amount of work experience, in addition to the above required education necessary for a person entering this position.
Bachelor’s Degree and four years or a Master’s Degree and two years of experience working in a high quality early childhood or early childhood education setting to include one year of supervisory experience
Preferred Licenses or Certifications: None c. Indicate any license or certificate required for this position.
