IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
A) Five year degree with placement abroad: presupposes acceptance into Honours.
To be eligible for a WIYA, students must gain Honours entry in all subjects that they are proposing to
take to Honours in the May examination diet prior to their WIYA year. Any student who does not
achieve Honours entry in their chosen Honours subject(s) in May must withdraw from their WIYA at
that point.
B) Four year degree with study abroad: presupposes acceptance into Honours.
You must achieve a minimum grade of 14 in the language component of the relevant core module at
the end of Semester 1 in the second year of your studies at St Andrews, and at least 13.5 in the
language components of the core modules of any other languages being taken to honours. If you do
not fulfil these academic requirements in Semester 1, then you may apply to go abroad on Erasmus
placement in Semester 2 of your Junior Honours year only.
Honours entry for Russian (11 in Semester 2) is required for all study abroad in Russia.
Please note that it is vitally important that you commit to a placement once you have been
selected for one. If for some reason you cannot take up a placement then you must inform your
study abroad coordinator in good time.
