You must achieve a minimum grade of 14 in the language component of the relevant core module at the end of Semester 1 in the second year of your studies at St Andrews, and at least 13.5 in the language components of the core modules of any other languages being taken to honours. If you do not fulfil these academic requirements in Semester 1, then you may apply to go abroad on Erasmus placement in Semester 2 of your Junior Honours year only. Honours entry for Russian (11 in Semester 2) is required for all study abroad in Russia. Please note that it is vitally important that you commit to a placement once you have been selected for one. The St Andrews Abroad programme is run by Collaborations & Study Abroad and it is to CSA that you must apply to participate in it. N.B. If you wish to apply to more than one country you MUST indicate an order of preference. Also, please note that exchanges with certain universities in Lebanon and Russia are available only for one semester but may be combined with study in a second country. Please note that while every consideration will be given to your personal choice the final choice will be made by subject coordinators on academic grounds. All Russian courses are run through the organization RLUS, whose application process will be explained to students by the YA coordinator for Russian in their preliminary meeting in the Semester 1 in the year preceding their departure. For participation in the University Placement programme, please indicate your order of preference (1-3) in the year or semesters of choice below. In the case of Italian and Russian, please indicate your preferred semester for both languages. Other destinations are wholeyear exchanges. Russian is only available for one- emester on the four-year degree option. A full year abroad is not possible for Joint Honours in Management and Spanish.
