POSITION TITLE: RN- Staff Nurse – Clinical Resource Team
RESPONSIBLE TO: Director of Clinical Resource Team
DATE: October 5, 2015
JOB SUMMARY: A staff registered nurse is a professional registered nurse who
directs and/or performs nursing care to patients assigned to his/her team within the
scope of his/her license. The staff registered nurse is responsible to the charge nurse
on the unit to which he/she is assigned. This RN must effectively prescribe, delegate,
and coordinate nursing care. The staff RN supervises non-licensed personnel as
assigned in the acute care setting.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work environment is located in a comfortable indoor area.
Conditions such as noise, odors, cramped workspace and/or fumes could sometimes
cause discomfort.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:






Graduate of accredited school of professional nursing
Currently licensed to practice as a professional registered nurse in the state of
Missouri.
This individual should be knowledgeable regarding growth and development and
assessing the physical and psychological needs of patients in the following stages of
life: Babyhood, adolescence, early adulthood, middle age, and geriatrics.
Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider certification required.
RN licensure issued by the State Board of Nursing of Missouri to practice
professional nursing
American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support certificate within three
(3) months of start date
RELATIONSHIPS: Reports to the Director of Clinical Resource Team. Also
reports clinically during designated shifts to the Charge Nurse/Patient Care
Supervisor. Supports: Intensive Care unit (ICU), Telemetry, Medical-Surgical
department, Emergency Department (ED), and Post-Partum Obstetrics.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Frequency Scale: 1 = Rarely/Never; 2 = Occasionally; 3 = Frequently and 4 = Consistently

Demonstrates appropriate assessment and knowledge of the critically ill patient.
Demonstrates ability to assist providers with procedures that include but not
limited to: arterial lines, central line placement, and ventilators.
Demonstrates appropriate assessment and knowledge of
Telemetry Monitoring
Demonstrates ability to assist providers with procedures such as but not limited
to: conscious sedation, central lines, and rapid sequence intubation.
Is able to perform all technical skills required for unit patient population such as,
but not limited to IV venipuncture, restraint application, and sterile dressings
Renders professional nursing care including administering medications, starting
intravenous fluids and blood products. Performs both complex and routine
treatments as prescribed by physicians or as warranted by patient's condition
Implements patient care according to planned interventions to attain
the patient’s optimal level of function and documents according to policy
Assesses patient's condition based upon observation, examination, and/or
interview, physician's diagnosis, laboratory findings, age-related issues and other
pertinent information.
Demonstrates positive customer service relations
Supports the Medical Center’s Mission/Vision/Philosophy
Demonstrates the understanding of efficient and appropriate unit staffing; Key
concepts: adjusting staffing levels as indicated, utilizes resources efficiently
Routinely participates in QI projects and encourages department to continuously
improve
Assists co-workers as needed/requested
Communicates with physicians/director/co-workers, as appropriate about
changes in patient’s clinical condition
Is able to response quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to
treatment
Incorporates the patient's physiological, psychological, cultural, developmental
and spiritual needs into the plan of care
