Job Summary
To be part of an innovative, progressive and user guided Mental Health charity, and college for the
creative and performing arts. Supporting the Membership and Development Manager to progress and
develop networks and opportunities for Core Arts through the commissioning of personalised budgets for
service users across London. To liaise with councils, CCG's, NHS bodies and third sector leaders in
mental health services regarding the use of and implementation of the new systems to choose services
and to ensure growth and expansion of the access pathways to Core Arts for those with severe and
enduring mental health needs. To assist the membership managers in generating new referrals and
supporting new members to access personal budgets locally. To develop relationships with housing
related support services and support their endevours to enable persons to participate fully and have
access to learning and social opportunities and increased quality of life. To develop an outreach team of
member volunteers to deliver to those who may have difficulty attending and implement systems to
ensure full and active membership and widen access across London. To strenthen partnerships with
other agencies, including joint working and conferences to ensure our members are fully informed,
involved and have access to advocates. To ensure online information is relevant, interactive and
connected with services pan London as part of raising the profile of the service.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1.
Promotion of the service to stakeholders & Referrals

To ensure the service is recognised by commissioners, stakeholders and Brokerage
services across London

To ensure Membership is promoted in all London Boroughs to persons who have eligible
needs and for those defined by the membership criteria

To recognise the needs of each borough and tailor the offer to support the boroughs to
bridge the gap in support

Develop relationships with larger organisations that are personalised and support service
users to access personal budget monies

To advance & support new members through the application process by ensuring they are
informed and supported by brokerage teams and care teams in outcome focussed
planning.

To promote and pursue funding for members through Personal Budgets, CCG funding,
Direct payments and block contracts as appropriate

To ensure efficient response to expressions of interest and referrals received and liaise
effectively with multiple teams

To ensure that membership is maintained at agreed levels and is individualised to suit
each member (alongside membership managers)

To take the lead in developing out of borough contacts and referrals in conjunction with
the Director and within the framework of the fundraising and promotional strategy

To maximise opportunities for increasing income though membership including;
Marketing and promoting services to commissioners across London;
Promoting partnership working with other services such as open days, initiatives on
wards, working with women or specific ethnic groups etc.
2.
Research and lead on Brokerage and Personal Budgets

To develop and maintain information, advice and guidance regarding personal budgets
and case studies of the effectiveness

Find opportunites across London to engage with research, conferences or best practice
regarding persons with severe and enduring mental health needs and personal budgets

Promote and validate the impact of learning, creativity and achievement on a persons
mental health and personalised reseources

To engage stakeholders on the impact of personalised support planning and alternative
ways to recovery, including diversity and participation

To acknowledge and partner with organisations (or individuals) that campaign for service
user rights, and have a useful understanding or may benefit our members.
To support member participation in Core’s activities and volunteering:

To identify relevant funding for members or opportunities in various London boroughs

To liaise with staff, volunteers and members to ensure clear communication of interests,
concerns, changes in activity etc in conjunction with relevant tutors and co-ordinators

To liaise with external agencies, within the parameters of Core Arts Confidentiality Policy, to
ensure maximum support for members

To maintain knowledge of health, social care and community organisations and the roles they
can play in member’s lives

To identify development and progression opportunities in response to member’s identified
needs, and to signpost to more appropriate sources of help when relevant
.
3.
Administration and accountability

To ensure the director is fully informed and permitted any partnership working in line with the
wider aims of Core Arts business planning

Engage the senior managment team including the director and the development manager in
any developments or advancements

To work closely with the deputy director regarding fundraising or parnership bids
4.

To maintain appropriate systems and records of developments and meetings and collate data
and to produce reports for the Board of trustees, the Director, the Deputy Director external
funders etc as required.

To maintain accurate records of personal budget allocations, invoices, receipts and direct
payments packages in conjunction with the Finance Manager and membership managers and
ensure ongoing relationships with the partners involved.

To support and promote Core Council: to ensure your work is discussed and cascaded at the
Core Council members meeting, as your work across London will refect the demographics
and relevance for members in various boroughs..

To co ordinate volunteer mentors/ interns to support promotion, online presences, events and
conferences
General
Contribute to the development of Core Arts charity objectives.
Carry out all duties in the context of and in compliance with Core Arts Equal Opportunities
Policy.
Contribute positively to team working including attending team meetings and supervisory
sessions and adhere to the policies and procedures of Core Arts.
Comply with and contribute pro-actively to the Core Arts Health and Safety policies and
procedures.
To attend and contribute positively to supervision sessions.
To seek and undertake any required training and updating of skills as necessary.
To contribute to the business aims and implement plans made.
To promote Core Arts ethos and unique vision to mental health practitioners and relevant
services across London.
Any other duties within the competence of the post-holder that may be required in line with the
post and at the direction of the Director.
