2015 FRATERNITY/SORORITY DEAN'S TROPHY APPLICATION To: Chapter Presidents and Advisors From: Katelin Rae, Assistant Director, Fraternity and Sorority Life Re: 2015 Dean’s Trophy Application Please find the attached application and directions below for Dean’s Trophy. Directions and Application Requirements: The application is divided into five categories in accordance with our Fraternity and Sorority Life Core Values. I. Academic Excellence II. Social Justice and Selfless Service III. Leadership IV. Brotherhood/Sisterhood V. High Social Standards Each section should begin with a narrative about how your chapter integrates this core value into their programs, plans, etc. Please complete each section of this application, and attach supporting documentation as requested. Your application covers the period from September 2014 through December 2015. *With the new changes to awards timeline, this period will reflect three semesters and then transition fully to the calendar year of review for 2016 awards. Save each section separately as a PDF and submit the completed application to Katelin Rae by email at usdfraternityandsororitylife@gmail.com no later than 5:00pm on January 15, 2016. If information overlaps sections, please be sure to list it in each area it appears. Each section of the application must have a cover sheet with the following information: •Name of Fraternity/Sorority •Name of Person Completing Application •Your organization’s core values listed and defined. Supporting Documents Winners will be selected by a judging panel of faculty and administrators. In addition to the application that organizations submit, a copy of the following items will be included for the judge’s to review: Membership Roster Information Grade Report (Fall 2014, Spring 2015, Fall 2015) All Greek Discipline Board sanction letters from September 2014 through December 2015 Chapter Leadership Rosters for Panhellenic Council, IFC Council, Order of Omega Greek Honor society, and Greek Discipline Hearing Board Officers Scoring, Presentations and Late Applications Points deducted in each section based on judicial misconduct will be at the judges’ discretion. In addition to the written application, presentations are integrated into the final recognition of the Dean’s Trophy. This is a change recommended by the 2015 Greek awards revision task force and approved by FSL/SLIC administrators. After initial review by the judges, three sorority finalists and three fraternity finalists will be invited to present on their organization and how they integrate the USD Greek core values into their work. These presentations may highlight the achievements the chapter thinks are their most significant based off their chapter contribution and the core values of USD fraternity and sorority life. Presentations will be open to the community, so that members of the community can support the organization. Presentations will be scheduled in February prior to the Greek Awards event and additional details will be provided to organizations invited to present and to the USD fraternity and sorority life community. Trophies will be awarded at the annual Greek Awards Event, scheduled for February 24, 2016 from 6-8pm. The President of each fraternity and sorority should plan on attending the Awards event. PLEASE NOTE: Late applications will not be accepted. Incomplete applications will not receive the maximum point value possible in each section that is incomplete. ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE -- 200 points possible This section should begin with a narrative about how your chapter integrates this Core Value into their programs, plans, etc. CHAPTER SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMMING Please attach an outline of your chapter's scholarship programming offered September 2014-December 2015. Include incentive programs, remedial programs, programs for new members, probation programs, tutoring for members, study tables, study skills workshops, etc. CHAPTER CULTURAL PROGRAMMING Please attach an outline of your chapter's cultural programming offered September 2014December 2015. Include chapter programs on theatre, music, art, dance and literature. INTELLECTUAL GROWTH PROGRAMMING Please include any other programs or experiences that your chapter offered September 2014-December 2015 that contributed to members’ intellectual growth.
