1. MEETING STARTED AT: 4:10PM.
Welcome everyone to another meeting for
People First North Grenville. The date of this
meeting is: Wednesday September 26th, 2012.
2. ROUTINE BUSINESS:
i) Everyone was satisfied with the minutes from
the June 27th, 2012 meeting. Doug S. motioned the

ii) Treasurer Report: Joanne did a report for our
account. Our committee made a deposit of $108.00
and a Slush Fund-Raiser of $97.36. So our new
account total is $493.06. Mary Ellen motioned the
new account and Maureen second it. CARRIED
iii) No Expenses/Payments or Requests at this
time.

3. OLD BUSINESS:
a. People First Fall Dance Results:
Everyone had a great time at the People First
Fall Dance at the Winchester Lions Den from Friday
September 14th, 2012. It was a full house and everyone
had a great time. Jamie and Anne Lyon were on deck
and Dj’ing with great tunes. The only problem is
transportation as lots of people but not enough
vehicles. An idea was having two people go once and
another 2 people go next time. We hope this idea was
in the near future. We hope to see at the next dance in
October. Thank you for your support.
b. New Kemptville Bowling Website:
I (Jason) gave another update on the new
Kemptville Bowling Lanes website. I updated it on
Friday September 21st, 2012 with new information. The
new owners love the site and it is getting lots of visitors.

and we hope it will be successful with the new owners.

c. Smart Board For People First:
Our People First committee will be using the
Smart Board for future meetings, fund-raisers, events,
dances and training. I hope to do a whole meeting with
the Smart Board. I will be asking Brenda Dillabough
and Ted Shuh if we can do this. I will have more
information throughout the fiscal year. Thank you for
your support and cooperation.
4. NEW BUSINESS
a. People First Website Update:
I (Jason) gave the monthly update on the site. The
People First Web Site is up and running full time now and
doing very well. I am getting lots of visitors (over 1,400 as of
September 26, 2012) and feedback which is great. You can
also find it on the Community Living website under “LINKS”. I
have added more updates, animations to make it look cooler,
documents, dates and many other new notes. The site has
been updated as of September 24th, 2012. I will be putting the
address in the monthly emails along with in the meeting
agendas and minutes. There will be more stuff added so check
back
frequently
for
updates.

will have another update probably next month. Thank you

b. People First Presidents Update:
Penny Chattaway gave her monthly report. The only
thing she had to report was that our People First committee
might have a 50/50 draw at the Community Living Ladies Night
event on November 8th, 2012. Finally Penny just said welcome
everyone for another year of this committee. It should be a
great, entertaining and fun year. That was her report for this
month and she will have another report next month. Thank you
for your support.
c. Community Living Board of Directors Update:
I (Jason) gave my monthly update from the Board of
Directors. First of all the 2012-2103 bowling schedule is going
strong and doing great. If you want a schedule of events and
dates, go on the People First website or ask Community Living
for a copy. Secondly, I talked about the Community Living
Accessibility Committee. We just talked about the emails to
each house, the Smart Board, the successful accessible at the
People First Dances and about the local pool as it will be doing
some accessible changes. We are going to meet in December
to discuss these topics and much more. Finally there will be
NO elections this year as everyone is serving a 2-Year term on
each position. We will have our People First Election next year
(2013-2014). Thank You for reading my Board Report for this

d. North Grenville Accessibility Advisory Committee:
I (Jason) sent the North Grenville Accessibility Advisory Committee an email stating that we need to have a meeting
as there are some new topics that need to be addressed and discussed. We hope to have a meeting in the near future. I
hope to have a report and update at the next meeting or at the November meeting. I will keep everyone posted. Thank you
for your cooperation and support.
e. People First Activity Selection: Our committee made a list of some possible fund-raising events that our committee
might do in the future. Some of these ideas were as follows: 1. Sing-A-Long Group: Where we get a group of people and
sing song at Community Supports for an afternoon or evening. 2. BBQ: Have a BBQ at Community Supports. This event
has been very successful in the past. For $5.00 you would get either a hot-dog or hamburger with a drink and chips. We
usually have these in Spring or Fall months. 3. Hockey Night: Where we get together on a Friday or Saturday night at
Community Supports and watch a hockey game. People usually bring a donation to put towards the refreshments. 4. Movie
Night: Where we get together on a Friday or Saturday night at Community Supports and watch a movie. People usually
bring a donation to put towards the refreshments. These ideas are to pump up our account balance. We hope to succeed in
these events. We will have a vote at our October Meeting. Thank you for your support.
f i. Upcoming People First Events: Here are some upcoming events that might interest you. They are as follows: i. The
Community Living Book Sale is on Friday October 12th and Saturday October 13th, 2012 at the Forestry Centre. Come on
out, buy some books, eat at the BBQ and support a great cause. Contact Brenda Dillabough for more information. ii. The
10th Annual Kathy Botham Bowl for Easter Seals Kids is on Sunday October 14th, 2012 at 10AM and doors open at 9AM. So
come on out and bowl and support a great charity. If you need more information, contact Brenda Dillabough or Kathy
Botham. Hope to see you there. iii. The People First Halloween Dance is on Friday October 26th, 2012 from 7-11PM at the
Winchester Lions Den. The cost is $7.00. Come on out with your Halloween costumes and dance the night away and listen
to Halloween music. Plus a contest for the best Halloween costume. Finally Anne Lyon and Jamie will be Dj’ing the dance.

g. People First Opinion Segment, New Events and Fund-Raising Ideas:
The only idea was to put the date of each monthly People First North Grenville Meeting on the bulletin board at
Community Supports so everyone knows when the meetings are and to pump up the attendance. Also I got a couple of
People First North Grenville Evaluation Forms back. You have until the end of November to fill them out and give them to
Brenda Dillabough and I will pick them up and have a report at the November meeting. Your opinion helps our committee.

h. Other News: The only Other News is that we as a committee are going to try and doing and making meetings via
emailing all the houses and people with emails. I will be adding the monthly meeting agendas and minutes, along with dates
and contacts. I will be emailing the info a couple of weeks before the meetings. I hope this works. Finally Carol Pollock has
joined our People First committee as an advocate to replace Tracey Bennett. Carol and Bruce will be at our monthly
meetings to assist us. We wish them good luck and thank you for your support.
So that is it for this meeting. Thank you everyone for attending and to our advocates for helping tonight as it was our largest
attendance yet. Way to go everyone. I hope to see everyone at our next meeting in October 2012 in the Community
