From the Office:
Parents please be aware that, beginning Tuesday, September 8,
2014, Blackboard Connect calls will be made to the parents of
all unexcused absentees. This call is simply a reminder that in
order for your child’s absence to be considered excused, we
must receive a note from either the parent or a doctor. If you
receive this call, there is no need for you to call the office
unless you have a question regarding your child’s absence. You
will also receive a phone call if your child is tardy. The number
of unexcused tardies or unexcused early dismissals from
school will contribute to the total number of unexcused school
days which will be included in filing truancy.

A Message from Our Safety Committee
GES asks everyone to follow these guidelines so student
safety is always a priority!
 All students who are dropped off should go through the student
drop off line. Students should not be dropped off in the staff
parking lot.
 The staff parking lot is one-way, and should be used to exit back
to the main road.
 Students are to remain in car until released by supervising
teacher at approximately 7:00.
 Please say goodbye to students and have them ready to exit your
vehicle when signaled by the teacher directing traffic.
 Never allow your child to leave your vehicle once traffic has
begun moving! If your child can’t get out in time, you will need
to move past the school out of the traffic lane on the right and
escort them to the 4th/5th grade lobby.
 No one is allowed to cross traffic from the parking lot; you must
cross at crosswalk in front of the line of traffic with the teacher
directing traffic. Parents need to escort students across the
crosswalk.
 Please stay off cell phones when in car lines until you are off
campus.
 Parents & students need to remain in their vehicle until
signaled by person directing traffic. (Please remember, when a
door opens or someone gets out of their vehicle early, some
drivers may think it is okay to let their child go ahead and
unload)
 Please do not let students out of cars below the line at the
bottom of the curb. It is difficult for teachers to supervise
beyond that point.
 The car line next to the school will move first. When line one
stops, the two outside lines will be signaled to move.
 Drivers should pull to the white line in front line before
stopping.
 If you see a student crossing the car line while cars are moving,
please stop and honk your horn.
 All vehicles should be ready to stop when signaled or when you
hear someone blowing their horn.
 Please remember, we only allow vehicles to move after the last
child has safely moved away from traffic. Everyone being ready
to unload will help traffic move faster.
 The best time to unload is between 7:00-7:15 in the mornings.
There is very little traffic at that time. Students will be counted
tardy if they are not in the building at 7:30 a.m.
 Please make sure your child understands, they should not
return to your vehicle once they have left your vehicle.
 The first road to the left past the crosswalk is not an exit and
should only be used by incoming buses, staff, and
parents/custodians of students who have a handicapped
parking pass on their vehicle.
We appreciate your cooperation in helping make GES
safer for our students.
