Dear Cardinal Parents,
It is difficult to believe that the holidays are around the corner.
Over the past two months, so many wonderful events have
taken place. First, I would like to thank Ms. Johnson for a
wonderful Veteran’s Day Program. Next, I would like to thank
our PTA for a great fundraising event, which will enable them
to continue to support GES!
As the semester draws to a close, GES students are making
some strides academically. Students in grades 2-5 will take the 2nd Discovery
Education Assessment (DEA); K-5 students will be involved in the 2nd Istation
testing. The DEA provides information on students’ level of proficiency in
Reading/language Arts, Math, and Science; Istation assesses a student’s
proficiency level in reading. You will receive these results in January 2015.
As 2014 comes to a close, I want to thank each of you for the commitment and
generosity you have shown to GES. It is truly overwhelming! Again, have a safe
and restful holiday season, and I look forward to many more exciting things to

Home & School Connection
GES held its first Cardinal Parent Chat
last month. The topic for this session
was Understanding Assessments. Parents learned about the various benchmark
assessments that students in grades K-5 are required to take. We truly
appreciate the parents who attended the sessions. If you have any questions
about the Parent Chat or want information regarding the topic, please contact
