Over the past two months, so many wonderful events have taken place. First, I would like to thank Ms. Johnson for a wonderful Veteran’s Day Program. Next, I would like to thank our PTA for a great fundraising event, which will enable them to continue to support GES! As the semester draws to a close, GES students are making some strides academically. Students in grades 2-5 will take the 2nd Discovery Education Assessment (DEA); K-5 students will be involved in the 2nd Istation testing. The DEA provides information on students’ level of proficiency in Reading/language Arts, Math, and Science; Istation assesses a student’s proficiency level in reading. You will receive these results in January 2015. As 2014 comes to a close, I want to thank each of you for the commitment and generosity you have shown to GES. It is truly overwhelming! Again, have a safe and restful holiday season, and I look forward to many more exciting things to occur in 2015. For more information about upcoming events, please visit our website at http://www.scsk12.org/schools/germantown.es/site/index.shtml. Yours in education, Donna C. Jones, Principal Home & School Connection GES held its first Cardinal Parent Chat last month. The topic for this session was Understanding Assessments. Parents learned about the various benchmark assessments that students in grades K-5 are required to take. We truly appreciate the parents who attended the sessions. If you have any questions about the Parent Chat or want information regarding the topic, please contact Cassandra Cohran, Title 1 PLC Coach, at 756-2330, or via email at cohrancw@scsk12.org.
