Library Meeting 2/26/14
Present: Cindy Maguire, Sue Mitchell, Jen Baker-Porazinski,
Clem Crowe, Mary Lee Weeks
Last meetings minutes of 1/22/14 were read by Mary Lee Weeks and
unanimously approved.
Treasurer's Report:
Cindy Maguire shared the spread sheet received from Les.
total budget as of 2/14 was $21,514.04.
The
Cindy created a budget for The Village and submitted this.
Old Business:
Our budget was completed and has been submitted.
Report was also completed and submitted.
The Annual
Cindy sent away the forms and fees (pro-rated at $86) for the
Motion Picture Licensing so that we can show movies.
The digitizing of the microfilm has been completed. The
material will be available on the web in April after it is
indexed. We will also receive a DVD of this and are hoping to
have a few copies to distribute to the school and the Historical
Society, among others.
New Business:
Sue Mitchell brought up that we need to be thinking about the
newsletter. Clem will write a section from the board, Cindy
will write an introduction. We will also need to contact the
printers and look into distribution and funding for this. The
goal is to have this completed for early April.
The Annual Trustee Meeting is in Saratoga on 5/19/14.
The agreement with SALS has been signed and completed.
Librarian's Report:
There have been a lot of successful programs at the
library. Bliss MacIntosh did two programs on basket making,
which was attended by a local Girl Scout troop and a 4H. Howard
Romack has done two hands-on science programs including a
microscope program in January and a program in February on
anatomy from a cow (heart, lungs and eyes). He plans to do one
on March 22 on animals of the rain forrest. Mike Russert will
be doing a program on March 25th on visiting Gettysburg. On
March 4th the Dance Band will be coming to the library.
is a finance workshop for teens this weekend.
There
There have been many homeschooling families taking advantage of
the programs the library offers. Cindy was approached by a
family member who is in a homeschooling co-op. Cindy is
thinking of opening the school for a specified time period each
month. The board unanimously agreed to allow access to the
library for this.
Story hour has been quite successful (15 kids and 10 parents
yesterday)
Gifts: Chris Palinsky donated $150 for books in Memory of
children who have passed away in the community.
Wednesday nights the library hosts "Sit and knit".
