University Service Award
The University Service Award recognizes time and effort voluntarily given to the university
community. The time and effort are considered outside of the normal work assignment and may
include being involved on a campus committee, providing assistance to staff, students or a campus
organization, etc. The result of this involvement is increased positive perception of the University
within the community or enhancing the ability of the University to accomplish its mission of
providing educational opportunities.
The recipient of the 2013 University Service Award is:
Cindy Marczak
Cindy works in the Business Affairs Office as a Program Assistant Advanced – Confidential to the Vice
Chancellor. Cindy has served as clerical support on numerous Search and Screen Committees in the
past year, sometimes coordinating more than one at a time. Cindy also organized and coordinated the
remodeling and updating of the Business Affairs office suite, working with the designer on choosing
colors, carpeting, paint, etc. She manages the video system in meeting room 203 of Old Main. She is
also an active member of the Information Technology Committee of the Faculty Senate. In addition,
Cindy was key in organizing social activities for the building and keeping occupants aware of issues
involving the building, such as fire alarm testing, etc. She is the Treasurer for Beautiful Savior Lutheran
Church, and has also served on CSAC in the past. Says one colleague, “Cindy’s dedication to the success
of the institution is remarkable. It is easy for anyone in any job to focus just on their personal
responsibilities, but her effort to ensure the overall success of the institution is admirable. Her
selflessness to take on extra projects for other units than her own is a testament to her dedication to
UWSP.”
