Kevin Greeland Workshop – Layering With Acrylics Layering With Acrylics January 16-17, 2016; 10am-4pm $250 – Limit 12 students! Learn the fundamentals of layering with acrylic paints and mediums in this hands-on workshop. We will work with a variety of color applications using Golden's Fluid Acrylics, High Flow Acrylics, and OPEN Acrylics. We’ll even dabble with QoR Watercolors. Exploring the possibilities through collage and painting with impasto effects, glazing, printmaking, water-media, and ink-like effects. Discover how gels and pastes can be used to alter color properties, used to make multiple layers, make interesting textures. For example we will create a faux metals painting using the various pastes, Glass Bead Gel and the Iridescent Fluids. Moving onto the gels we’ll create several paintings using various gels to create multiple translucent layers and also work with glazing. We’ll do some collage work and experiment with the Interference colors as well. One painting will incorporate collage, gel transfers and acrylic encaustic, each student will get to create a few “skins” and we’ll digital print on at least one using digital ground. The idea is to leave with small sample painting where each student had the opportunity to try various Golden products to see how they could fit into their current painting practice or provide new ideas and insight. Students will make several small paintings using acrylic products provided by Golden Paint with tools and materials provided by the instructor. All levels are welcome. Free literature packet and a free sample bag of Golden products! Pack a lunch and bring your imagination.
