2015 Graphic Design/Photography Internship
The Graphic Design/Photography Intern works collaboratively with the Director of Marketing, Content Manager, Lakesider Editor
Interns and Marketing/Digital Communications Intern to create marketing materials and organize Lakeside Chautauqua’s growing
picture database. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: photographing daily special events, filming testimonial stories,
organizing pictures and videos, creating infographics, designing postcards, invites and posters, designing merchandise for online
shop, interviewing community members, and laying out the ‘Lakeside Snapshots’ page of the Lakesider newspaper.
This internship requires a working knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, photography basics and digital camera
components. The ideal candidate possesses excellent photography, editing, communication and leadership skills, maintains the
ability to work in a team-oriented environment; and is a highly organized, self-motivated individual capable of meeting deadlines.
Please note: the Graphic Design/Photography Intern is expected to work days, evenings, weekends and all summer holidays, often
12-hour days, and reports directly to the Director of Marketing.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (PLUS OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED):























Photograph all events based on programming schedule, working days, nights, weekends and all summer holidays
Film and edit testimonial videos
Download, edit and organize all pictures and videos on Dropbox
Manage annual Photo Contest entries and upload to social media
Attend weekly Lakesider newspaper, social media, blog and photo meetings
Distribute pictures for Lakesider newspaper, social media and blog via Dropbox
Upload pictures to Facebook, Flickr and Photo Bucket
Create infographics, photo collages and banner pictures for use on website, social media and blog
Create picture checklists for various projects (web banners, stock pictures and Calendar of Events brochure)
Organize pictures for annual Calendar of Events brochure
Layout postcards, invites, flyers and posters for special events
Design merchandise for online shop
Collect and organize promotional materials and headshots for performers
Layout ‘Lakeside Snapshots’ page in Lakesider newspaper each week
Interview community members for ‘Question of the Week’ in Lakesider newspaper
Distribute the Lakesider newspaper on Friday and Saturday mornings
Manage Saturday morning Lakesider newspaper delivery with youth volunteers as needed
Assist with community events as needed, including set up, execution and tear-down
Create/maintain a policy and procedures manual for the internship position
Participate in a departmental assessment project regarding research on proposed topic
Organize a roundtable discussion with community members based on assessment project research
Participate in all LLA activities, forums and gatherings
Make an oral presentation to the Lakeside Chautauqua staff regarding summer internship experience
