EVACUATION To Implement Evacuation Procedures in the JROTC Building, use the command "Evacuate the Building". Implement evacuation procedures under the following circumstances; 1. Fire 2. Explosion in the building 3. Severe weather e.g. Hurricane, tornado, severe winds 4. Bomb threat 5. When directed by an instructor or person in authority. PROCEDURES 1. Yell "Evacuate the building" as you quickly evacuate. a. Take the shortest and safest route to the nearest exit 2. Do not backtrack to retrieve any of your personal items. 3. If you are inside a classroom, grab the CERT bag 4. Shut all opened doors as you pass through the hallway 5. Retrieve the CERT Bag at the exit door 6. Reconvene on the drill pad* 7. Call 911 and 832-386-3400 (front office) and report the incident 8. Make sure you are accounted for - answer the roll call. 9. Do not re-enter the facility until the all clear is given by an instructor or person in authority police officer *SEVERE WEATHER ONLY In case of severe weather e.g. tornado, hurricane, high winds 1. Evacuate to K-Hall 2. Exit the door nearest K-Hall 3. Reconvene in a location directed by the K-Hall building director LOCK-DOWN To Implement Lock-Down in the JROTC Building, use the command "Take Cover". Implement Lock-down under the following circumstances; 1. Suspicious person in the building that refuses to leave 2. Stranger/Intruder in the building that refuses to leave 3. Armed person in the building 4. Riot/raucous activity in the building 5. When directed by an instructor or person in authority. PROCEDURES 1. If you are in the hallway, repeat the command "Take Cover" loud enough for others to hear, while quickly moving inside the nearest opened room 2. If you are inside a room, stay there. Do not look out to see what's going on! 3. Turn off lights 4. Close and lock the door behind you a. If door does not lock, barricade door with desks and/or tables. 5. Cover the window with available paper. 6. Move to a hiding position in the room that is not visible from the door. a. Hide under a desk, table or behind a bookcase, cabinet etc. 7. Remain Silent 8. Call 911 and 832-386-3400 (front office)if you can do so quietly without being heard. 9. Stay Calm 10. Do not leave room until the all clear is given by a police officer LOCK-IN To Implement Lock-In in the JROTC Building, the command is "Lock-in". Implement a Lock-in when there is a threat outside of the facility. In this case, such as 1. Escaped prisoner sited in the area 3. Bank robber on the loose in the area 3. Riot outside 4. When directed by an instructor or person in authority such as an administrator or police officer. PROCEDURES 1. While yelling "Lock-in" for others to hear, quickly proceed to your designated rooms 2. Close and lock all doors as you proceed to the shelter 3. Do not leave the building! 4. Do not allow anyone to enter the building after all cadets are inside. 5. Cadets that are outside must move quickly into the building and proceed to their designated classrooms and lock the doors. 7. No one should be in the hallways 8. Classes continue as scheduled 9. Call 911 and 832-386-3400 (front office) if initiated within the JROTC and not by the front office. 10. Do not leave classrooms until the "all clear" is given by a person in authority SHELTER-IN-PLACE To Implement Shelter-in-Place in the JROTC Building, use the command "Shelter-in-Place". Implement Shelter-in-Place under the following circumstances; 1. Chemical Leak outside of the building 2. Nuclear threat 3. Explosion outside of the building 4. When directed by an instructor or person in authority such as an administrator or police officer. PROCEDURES 1. While yelling "Shelter-in-place" for others to hear, quickly proceed to the nearest room designated as a Shelter a. Shelter #1 - Equipment Room b. Shelter #2 - Male uniform room c. Shelter #3 - Female uniform room 2. Cut off all AC Units and close doors as you proceed to the shelter 3. Do not leave the building! 4. Do not allow anyone to enter the building after all cadets are inside. 5. Cadets that are outside must move quickly into the building and proceed to shelter #3 - Female Uniform Room. 6. Do not leave Shelters until the "all clear" is given by a person in authority 7. Call 911 and 832-386-3400 (front office)if this action was implemented by JROTC
