Name Inquiry Activity and Resources
I would have my students research their first, middle, and last names before coming to
class. In class, I would have them discuss their findings with a partner. I would also have
them discuss if they think their name has had an effect them on or represents who they
are as a person. Then I would have them free write about what it would be like if they had
their partner’s name. Would they any be different? Would their friends, family, or
teachers treat them any differently?
