Chevron Energy Technology Company (ETC), a division of Chevron U.S.A.
Inc., is accepting online applications for the position of Environmental
Engineer/Scientist: Waste Management and Soil Remediation Team located
in Houston, Texas OR San Ramon, California through April 30, 2011.

Overview:
The successful job candidate will manage, participate in and provide technical
expertise to environmental soil remediation and waste management projects
for Chevron’s international and domestic operations. In addition, the
candidate will provide technical consulting and support on a wide-range of
remediation and waste issues.
This position includes a leadership role in the Company’s Remediation
Strategic Research Soils Focus Area which includes identifying and scoping
innovative remedial research technologies related to problematic long chain
hydrocarbon impacted soil/sediment/solids in an effort to reduce Chevron’s
environmental liability at locations globally. This work includes leading
research programs with world class universities and consortia.
Position Details:
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
 Provides environmental soil remediation and waste management technical
support to project teams.
 Identifies, scopes and leads innovative research programs.
 Provides leadership to project teams on environmental issues.
 Provides technical environmental advice on legislative and regulatory
issues.
 Develops and delivers technical environmental training.
 Represents Chevron on technical environmental industry and regulatory
committees.
 Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to assess scientific risks (riskbased corrective action and risk-based clean-up levels).
 Domestic and foreign travel, with durations ranging from a few days to
several weeks.
Required Qualifications:
 Master's Degree in Chemical or Environmental Engineering, Environmental
Science, Applied Science (Chemistry, Biology, Geology or Microbiology) or
equivalent.
 Minimum of 8 years related work experience in environmental remediation
and waste management. Solid foundation in environmental science or
engineering with field experience and specialization in waste and remediation
technologies.
 Demonstrated leadership and experience leading research projects.
 Demonstrated ability to think strategically about environmental issues and
to develop action plans to address these issues.
 Strong technical leadership skills.
 Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills.
 Ability to work effectively with people from different cultures.
 Demonstrated commitment and focus on operational excellence and
behaviors that support incident free operations, along with a personal incident
free safety record and appreciation of diversity.
Preferred Qualifications:
 PhD in Chemical or Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science,
Applied Science (Chemistry, Biology, Geology or Microbiology) or equivalent.
 Oil & Gas industry experience.
 Chemistry or micro-biology background in physical/chemical treatments of
soils.
 Publications and conference presentations demonstrating technical
expertise and leadership.
Relocation Options:
Relocation may be considered within Chevron parameters.
