Clarify/Define Goal: Create an assemblage inspired by Steampunk and/or Nevelson
Brainstorm Ideas: Consider possible ideas for a “Nevelson-Steampunk Assemblage” and are
also important to you.
Test/Practice Construction: Experiment and refine skills with materials to help you decide
which would be best for your composition
Determine Best Idea : Sketch it Out
Construct Assemblage: Construct assemblage on square plate that is painted black. Select,
arrange and attach found objects to enhance your composition.
Reflect/Assess: Reflect Artwork by Writing Artist Statement and Grading Yourself
1. Paint plate/box black
2. Select Items (4+ different types to show VARIETY)
3. Arrange items
 To tell a story or something important to you
 Emphasizing REPETITION of similar shapes and/or objects
 Show DEPTH using layering of materials (3+ layers)
 Compose using Symmetrical, Asymmetrical or Radial Balance
4. Adhere all objects securely using hot glue, caulking, liquid nails or tacky/white glue
5. Add Hook to back (a paper clip hot glued on works well for most projects)
6. Spray paint with black and then metallic color(s)
7. Display with sign label
8. Reflect/Critique finished work (group and individual)
