Wax Museum Project
November 16, 2015
Dear Parents:
We are very excited to be informing you of this upcoming project of which your student
will be a part. There are many people who have been influential in our nation. Each student will
be researching a famous figure who was/is influential in our nation’s history. This project
consists of many components and culminates with a wax museum presentation with the students
portraying their selected famous person. This wax museum will be open to the student body
and families.
Students will present an oral biography about their person as their person. In addition to
this oral biography, students will complete a visual presentation on a trifold board to include
important information found in their research. Students will stand still in a designated spot in
front of their board until someone approaches them and triggers the student to recite a
memorized narrative pretending to be that person.
Students are encouraged to use research tools and methods that include: the Internet,
Encarta, encyclopedias, Social Studies books, the library, etc., for their information. All
sources must be cited on the bibliography page.
Your child is expected to research and take notes on their person of interest during class
time at school, however, some should be done at home in order to meet the deadlines.
While we understand the desire as parents to help your child, we ask that you allow them to do
their own work on this project.
Detailed information about each project component and due dates are included in your
child’s packet. Please take a moment to look through the paperwork with your child.
Please sign the bottom portion of this letter so that we know you have read and
understand the details of this project. Students are expected to return this signed paper by
November 20, 2015.
Biography selections will be made during the week of November 30, 2015. These
selections will be given on a first come-first served basis. No two students in the same class
may select the same person. No students will be allowed to select their famous historical figure
until they have returned the signed parent letter.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Mrs. Maher, Ms. Janas, Ms. Lindsey, Ms. Colacicco, Mrs. Hosford, Mrs. Singleton
