Spelling Bee 2011 Contest 12 Spelling Bee Contestants competing in the 2nd Annual Spelling Bee Competition The Linguistics Club of the English Department organized the Spelling Bee 2011, a spelling competition which is a very common and organized worldwide. The competition was held on Tuesday, the 6th of December in the room 103. The MC of this year's Spelling Bee, Senior Teaching Assistant Harun Baştuğ, skillfully conducted the event and introduced the contestants, the chosen students of 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th year of English Department. These 12 brave spelling bees stepped in front of the large audience and showed their enviable level of knowledge of words and spelling skills. The participants of the Spelling Bee 2011 (in alphabetical order) were: 1. Ajla Kurspahić 2. Adela Hasanić 3. Aldin Talić 4. Alma Jegić 5. Elif Çolak 6. Emina Hadžić 7. Gulay Akgun 8. Jasmin Alić 9. Lejla Ćosović 10. Melina Mešanović 11. Muhammed Semih Topal 12. Omar Papić After two rounds, the 1st and 2nd place winners were revealed, while the 3rd place was unveiled after the decisive third round. In the end, the final results showed that the absolute winner of the Spelling Bee 2011 was Ajla Kurspahić, with not a single incorrect answer. The 2nd place deservedly went to Jasmin Alić. The 3rd place was shared between Alma Jegić and Muhammed Semih Topal. Aldin Talić was the 4th place holder. All 5 contestants received certificates and valuable prizes. Dr. Azamat Akbarov kindly handed the award and the 1st place certificate to the winner.
