The Woolhope Club Library
The Woolhope Library is in Hereford Library and Museum, Broad Street, Hereford. It is in the
Woolhope Room, on the first floor, off the stairs to the Museum.
The Librarians
The Club has two librarians, Jacqueline Jonson (01432 840694) and Marianne Percival
(01568 797507). Requests for information can be sent via the Contact Us page

Opening Hours
The library is open to the general public on Thursdays between 11:00 and 14:30 hours, when
the librarians will be available to assist. Non-members are welcome to use the Club's library
during these opening hours. Members may also use the library at any time during the Public
Library opening hours [closed on Mondays] provided the Woolhope Room is not in use. To
check whether the room is free ring the Hereford Museum Resource Centre on 01432
383383. The keys to room and the bookcases can be obtained from the Public Library staff on
production of a valid Club membership card.
Books
The library holds books on a wide range of subjects relating to the Club's interest in the
natural sciences, archaeology and local history. The collection mainly relates to Herefordshire
and parts of the adjacent counties. The library also contains an extensive collection of
transactions and journals of other similar societies which are listed below. A copy of the
library catalogue is available in the Woolhope Room together with a cross-referenced card
index.
How to Borrow Books
Only Club members may borrow books and transactions. Details of borrowings must be
entered in the Library Issues Book, which is held, in the absence of the Club's Librarians, at
the Public Library Enquiry Desk. Publications may be borrowed for 6 months and renewed for
a further 6 months, if required, by contacting the Club's Librarians. Books should be returned
to either the Club Librarians on a Thursday or, if this is not possible, to the Public Library staff.
Members should ensure that the relevant entry in the Library Issues Book is cancelled and
initialled by the librarian. Until this is done the member remains accountable for the loan. A
catalogue of books is not available online, but can be viewed when Librarians are present.
Manuscripts and Rare Books
Manuscripts and rare books stored in the strong room are only available when the Club's
Librarians are in attendance. Such items may not be borrowed and can only be consulted in
the Woolhope Room.
