CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY, LONG BEACH DEPARTMENT OF ANTHROPOLOGY TEACHING ASSOCIATE OPENING RECRUITMENT #: POSITION: EFFECTIVE DATE: 14/15-PTL-ANTH Teaching Associate in Anthropology January 20, 2015 to May 22, 2015 (Spring 2015 Semester) Minimum Qualifications: Experience operating an running geophysical equipment Ability to use ESRI ArcGIS products to create maps and conduct spatial analyses. Basic knowledge of California prehistory Experience measuring and handling archaeological materials Experience using Trimble GPS units for mapping 4 weeks experience conducting archaeological excavations Prior experience in an archaeological field school M.A. student in the Department of Anthropology in good standing. Desired/Preferred Qualifications: Organizational skills, team player, flexible work style, and problem-solver. Duties: Lead groups of students in excavations of an archaeological site Train students on techniques involved with the study of archaeological sites Assist in the setup, maintenance and storage of technical field equipment Write summary reports of daily activities Generate maps of located materials Enter information generated in field into GIS system Assist with the photographic documentation of the site area. Assist in cataloging materials and documents related to excavation Assist instructor in preparing student activities for class Salary Range: Commensurate with training and experience. $587.80 to $612.20 per month, per 3-unit course, paid in six installments per semester.
