INFORMATION ON COURSE ENROLLMENT (SUBJECT REGISTRATION)
Introduction
Please make sure that you do your planning first before going for pre-course enrollment online
exercise. Kindly refer to your programme structure in Faculty website (http://fist.mmu.edu.my) and list of
courses offered that has been announced in Student Bulletin Board. You are advised to enroll
according to the credit hours stipulated in the programme structure and please ensure that you
register the right subject code and subject name to avoid any problems during pre-course enrollment
online. You may do the exercise anywhere with an internet access.
You may refer to the link http://timetabling.mmu.edu.my/timetable/default.aspx to view your time table
and try to arrange the best coordination of your time table when enroll the subjects.
Pre-Course Enrollment Online (Subject Registration)
Pre-Course Enrollment online must be completed before the beginning of each academic trimester.
Students are advised to complete the following before the start of a new semester:a) Take note of the online pre-course enrollment date which will be announced by the
Examination and Records Unit (ERU)
b) Meet your academic advisor to plan and get advice on your course enrollment.
c) Take note of the requirements for course enrollment and also your total credit hours.
d) Select the course that you would like to take and enroll at: https://cms.mmu.edu.my/psp/csprd/?cmd=login&languageCd=ENG&
Nature of Time table
a) Please select your lecture and tutorial groups according to the list given in courses to be
offered every trimester. In selecting of the tutorial group you will have to choose the tutorial
group that is in the range of your lecture section only. For Example: TMA1111 if you choose
TB01 as your lecture group you will have to choose either B01A or B01B or B01C or B01D
etc. as your tutorial group.
b) All sections are opened based on first come first serve basis. Faculty will not entertain any
request to increase the maximum capacity.
c) There shall be no clashing between your core subjects, however if there is any, please notify
the Faculty immediately. Otherwise clashing problem will not be entertained.
d) All classes after lunch break on Friday will start at 2:30PM consecutively (3:30/4:30/5:30)

1) How to view the list of Courses offered?

Enter the User ID and password  Self Service  Academic Planning  My Planner
 View Course Structure
2) How to register courses/subjects?
Student Self Service Enrollment (Following Course Structure)
Enter the User ID and password  Click the Sign In button  Click the Self Service Link
 Click Academic Planning  Click the Enroll link  Click My Planner Option 
Select Term (e.g.1430)  Select Add Classes page (For Students Following Course
Structure, a list of compulsory classes will be displayed from Student Programme of
Study) Select button to Enroll into desired class (relevant section) The Classes
should have been added to the shopping cart successfully. At this point, the students can
delete classes from the shopping cart if they wish to or continue to enroll  Click
Finish Enrolling button to enroll into the class.

Student Self Service Enrollment (Not Following Course Structure)
Enter the User ID and password  Click the Sign In button  Click the Self Service Link
 Click Academic Planning  Click the Enroll link  Click My Planner Option  Select
Term (e.g.1430) Click Search button  Select Add Classes page (For Students Not
Following Course Structure, a list of available classes will be displayed from Student
Program of Study. The student can select any available classes for that particular term) 
Select button to Enroll into desired class (relevant section)  The Classes
should have been added to the shopping cart successfully. At this point, the students can
delete classes from the shopping cart if they wish to or continue to enroll  Click
Finish Enrolling button to enroll into the class.
Appeal Subjects
Dean has the absolute discretion on whether or not to offer an appeal subject. The Faculty will
announce subjects that will be offered in Bulletin Board. Kindly take note that this appeal subjects are
meant for final year final semester students. Balance capacity will be opened to normal students
based on first come first serve basis. However, only students with full attendance on Week 1 and 2 will
be considered for registration provided that their academic load does not fall above the prescribed
maximum load.
Subject requirement for registration (pre-requisite)
It is your responsibility to check on subject’s pre-requisite before proceeding for subject Enrollment
.You may check from Faculty website for detail syllabus. Subject that has been registered without
having passed its pre-requisite will be dropped automatically by ERU without further notice.
Manual Course Enrollment (Subject Registration)
a) “Terminated-Reinstated” and student who is on financially-barred have to register their
subject(s) manually by filling in the “Add/Drop” form. The manual course enrollment will take
place from Week 3 to Week 4. Course Enrollment after Week 4 will not be entertained.
b) Steps:
1. Get the Add/Drop Form from the FIST Administration Office.
2. Fill in the form.
3. Obtain the verification from the Finance Department for the number of outstanding fees
(for financially-unbarred student).
4. Obtain signature from the Lecturer(s) who is/are teaching the subject(s).
5. Obtain Dean Approval from the FIST Administration Office.
6. Submit the form to Examination and Records Unit (ERU) to complete the manual
subject(s) registration process.
7. Check your course enrollment details and timetable for updates.

Policy for Subject Registration and Late Registration
a) For students enrolled after Week 2, they are allowed to register for subjects provided they have
attended all lectures, tutorials and labs (if applicable) until the date of registration. The Dean
has the absolute discretion on whether or not to allow the said registration.
b) Students’ attendance will be monitored in the event of late registration.
c) The Examination and Records Unit will post all deadlines on course enrollment (subject
registration) on the online Bulletin Board. Students are required to refer to it often.
d) Course Enrollment after deadlines will not be entertained.
Academic Load
a) Students shall register/enroll all courses as according to the programme structure by trimester.
b) A student who is pursuing a Bachelor of Non-Engineering Degree, shall only be allowed to register a
maximum of 20CH and minimum of 12CH in the 14 lecture-week trimester; and a maximum of
9CH and minimum of 6CH in the 7 lecture-week trimester.
c) A student who does not register any subject by week 4 and has not applied for Leave of Absence
(LOA), the status shall be changed to “Dismissed”.
d) Students under Probation Status shall only be allowed to register subjects as follows:
i.
A minimum of twelve (12) credit hours (CH) in long trimester
ii.
A minimum of six(6) credit hours in short trimester
e) A student may be allowed to repeat a subject * up to maximum of two times. A student who fails
a subject more than two times shall be terminated from his studies. However, he may appeal to
the Senate approval committee for reinstatement and to retake the subject. Where a student has
repeated a subject, only the best grade shall be taken into account for the computation of the
CGPA.
f) In the case where a student is required to repeat a subject, he shall be required to re-do the entire
course work and examinations for that particular subject.
g) 100% tuition fees will be charged for repeat subject.
Add/Drop, Withdraw and Quit
a) Adding and/or dropping of any subject should be done during the first two weeks of each trimester.
The add/drop process will also be web-based.
b) A Student shall be allowed to withdraw from subject that he/she has registered.
c) For 14 lecture-week trimester, the last date for subject withdrawal is by week 7 whereas for 7
lecture-week trimester, the last date for subject withdrawal is by week 4. This practice also takes
into consideration one’s academic load, in which it should not fall below the predetermined minimum
load.
d) Students who decide to cease their studies are required to notify the Examination and Records Unit
in writing. Students who fail to do so are liable to pay all fees and other related charges for the
entire semester to MMU.

Refund of Tuition Fees
a) If a student register subjects totaling more than the credit hours stated in his programme
structure for that trimester, he will be charged based on the total number of credit hours
registered.
b) For any subject registered beyond the duration of programme structure, a surcharge will be
imposed.
c) 100% of the course fee shall be refunded if a student withdraws from a subject within the first
and second week of any trimester.
d) No refund shall be granted for any withdrawal of subject after the first two weeks of any
trimester.
Leave of Absence (LOA)
a) A student is not allowed to take leave of absence (LOA) for more than three (3) trimesters (in
total) throughout his studies at MMU.

c) Please submit an appeal letter to the Faculty with complete supporting documents (if any)
before the application can be processed. Students are only allowed to go on leave after the
Dean approves the application.
d) International students who need to return home to renew visa and have to miss their final
examination MUST get prior approval from the Dean through the Examination and Records
Unit at least four (4) weeks before the date of the examination.
e) Except for National Service, Student Exchange Programme, Medical Reasons, and other
approved reasons by Senate, the period of student’s leave or ‘away from the university’ shall
be considered as part of the student’s candidature period.
