Stamford High School Varsity Club Application
Mission Statement: The Varsity Club seeks to unify past and present student-athletes, coaches, and administrators; for
the purpose of providing our current student-athletes with an avenue for learning leadership and team-building skills. The
Varsity Club will also act as a service organization for the students, parents, faculty, and alumni of SHS. It is through the
collaboration of club activities and service that the members will strengthen the bond between the school and the local
community. They shall embrace and exemplify what it means to be a Black Knight Student-Athlete. The Varsity Club is
an organization committed to maintaining the fine tradition of Black Knight Athletics.
The Varsity Club accepts applications September 25, December 1, and April 1. Please contact Todd Parness (tparness@ci.stamford.ct.us) or Diane

Qualifications: In order to apply you must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and acquired a total of 15 athletic
points. Point value is determined by the highest level in which most playing time occurred throughout the season. This
must be confirmed by the Coach.
Freshman Team = 1 Point, Junior Varsity = 2 Points, Varsity = 4 Points
Member Privileges: Members of the varsity club will be allowed free admission to all home SHS sporting events, a
guaranteed U-Knight t-shirt every season, free participation in special events (TBD) and the possibility of earning a
Varsity Club College Scholarship.
