Utah Beef Improvement Association Producer Profile H B CATTLE COMPANY WAS STARTED IN 1971 BY J. HOWARD BLACKHAM. Howard and his partner PERRY BLACKHAM working together, brought the CHAROLAIS Breed into the Intermountain West in 1959. Perry and Howard were known as the Blackham Brothers during the early days of the development of the Charolais breed. Their ranches were nestled inside the beautiful Sanpete Valley located in Central Utah. There is quite an intriguing story as to how the first 16 purebred Charolais were originally acquired. Please ask Dave, he would love to share the story with you. The Charolais breed has continued and the current owner, DAVID BLACKHAM, son HOWARD, has sought to develop moderate-framed mother cows with calving ease and more rapid maturation traits. After the death of his father David also began to develop the “RED FACTOR” , a light red-tinted animal that would maintain the color of the crossbred animals they were bred to, into his herd. You will love the results you receive from the animals purchased from HB CATTLE COMPANY.
