Athenry 1st May 2004 CHAROLAIS TOP €4,500 IN ATHENRY Last Saturday (May 1st) Charolais Show & Sale in Athenry, had an 80% clearance of bulls, a top price of €4,500 with a range from €1300. Average price was €1960. Top price, €4,500 and the Championship sash went to Ultan Lynch, Beagh, Killinkere, Virginia, Co. Cork for his 15 months old bull “MANDELA UGO” by “Organdi” and out of a home bred dam by “Diego” He was purchased by Ray Tully, Dromore West, Co. Sligo. Reserve male championship went to Liam Walsh, The Old Rectory, Rathdowney, for his 14 months old bull “Clandonagh Urban” by his stock bull “Clandonagh Hanovre” and out of a dam by “Farmleigh Goliath”. He sold for €2,200 to Michael Corry, Mullagh, Ennis, Co. Clare. Pat & Mary Henchy, Quin, Co. Clare recd €3,800 for a son of “Sarrison” John Searson, Roscrea, recd. €3,600 for a son of “Indurain” John Angland, Oughterard recd €2,800 for a son of “Indurain” Ml O’Connor, Newmarket-on-Fergus, recd €2,800 for a son of “Organdi” ML. Culkeen, Dunmore, recd €2,650 for a son of “Epsom” The next & last Charolais Society sale for this Spring is on Saturday 15th May in Tullamore.
